Posted - Jul 14 2009 : 03:42:19 AM Luckily there have never been any crashes
The pilots just luuv buzzing right OVER the house, so much to the point that you can almost see the whites of their eyes . I love it! And they always seem to travel in pairs, so you get 1 and a few seconds later, the other does the same. I think the big ones are C-4 transort jets? They are HUGE and chunky
One time I was out in a field picking blackberries w/ the dog. I heard fighter jets....and saw 3 fly over head Blue Angel Style. They may have been F-16s and flying kind of low too. Waved my bandana and jumped up and down like a mad woman...in return I got a wing tip. YAAA-HOO!
That was the coolest.
So I guess they can see me (and the dog) paying homage after all. that's so cool it gives me goose bumps every time. |

Posted - Jul 13 2009 : 09:08:54 AM Hey, Anna,
I grew up on the fly zone over Tinker AFB. We lived there 7 years. Actually, the neighborhood called it the crash zone because unfortunately that happened several times. The sonic booms were something else, too.

Posted - Jul 13 2009 : 03:17:43 AM Daughter of an Air Force vet here
We live in a fly zone, so any time something buzzes overhead, I go running out of the house and wave a bandana.
The dog has picked up on this behavior and runs across the field tracking the plane or helicopters.
Thank you so much for your sacrifice! |

Posted - Jul 12 2009 : 08:24:58 AM 9 years US Army. Medical discharge as I separated my shoulder. Joined at 32 and had 3 kids and a husband at the time. Thank you, too.
I guess I did okay as both of my girls are married to active duty GIs and the younger is in the National Guard, but she is getting out next month to raise their daughter. I am so proud of my SILs.
