Yea, the same can be said when MEN design bathrooms in public (NEVER enough stalls) and kitchens.

They aren't thinking about the women folk.

I forgot to mention how much I really like mine. I can wash ANYTHING in it, including my silks and woolens and nothing is ever stretched or twisted out of shape. I am going to build a platform with a storage drawer for it to sit on, though. I like the idea of it sitting up higher. Dryer, too. That way I don't have to get on my knees to get everything out!

I have a Maytag HE front loader. There is a little tray that slides out to load up the soap, bleach, fabric softener, etc. I use the homemade soap, just not as much. I fill the fabric softener cup with vinegar up to the fill line. If something is very dirty, I put in a little OxyClean with the laundry soap. I have had absolutely no problem with. My washer and dryer are only a year old, so they can't be that much different from yours.

Hope I could help.

I figure your washing machine manufacturer is in "kahoots" with the manufacturer of the little packets.

I have been using a front loader for two years now. I use regular liquid laundry detergent, only about a quarter to a third as much as it recommends to use. I put 1/4 cup of vinegar in the rinse compartment. I wash everything cold/cold unless it is really grimey.

I love my machines. And they use soooooo much less water.

We have a front loader set, 'he', and we use Shaklee natural laundry soap. It says specifically on the bottle or box how much to use for an he washer. there is a little gate in the drawer thingy Jessie mentioned that you shift to one place if you are using liquid, and to another if you are using powder.

I love our set; we are using a lot less water, and less dryer time as the washer spins the clothes so well. Also, I think our clothes are lasting longer as they are not being agitated to death.

We have both the front loader washer and dryer (Kenmore)...I like them "ok"...not thrilled, but it's better than going to the laundromat!

We use HE whatever's on sale (usually Gain and All Free and clear). Never heard of packets...don't see them anywhere either.

Lisa, my front-loading washer sounds much like yours. If I'm using liquid detergent, I put it in the little drawer-thingy. If I get a free sample of powdered detergent, I just throw it in with the clothes.

I have a front loader, but I bought it used so, it's nothing fancy. Mine just has a drawer in the upper left corner that you pull out and pour soap/softener/whatever into it and it feeds it into the machine when it's ready. I never heard of the packet thingy either. I don't understand the point of it. Maybe you can just make your own packets out of thin cotton or muslin or something? I'll be interested in hearing what you learn...

Well, that explains some of it anyway.

Will be curious to see what has been lost in translation.

Our washer and dryer are stacked. Sometimes I get clothes all over cause I have to scoop the load out of the dryer at chest level.

I haven't read the directions yet as I am not down there
but,
that is what brother-in-law told hubby
Brother-in-law built the home
He was reading the instructions and it said to use those little packets???
I haven't seen them??
Ugh Men.
Another thing
the washer and dyer is almost taller than I am.
If I can't reach it ; hubby will have to put in the dang things.
New and Imporoved ???
Hubby is the one who wanted it.
He might have to learn to wash clothes Ha. hugs sheila

HUH??

We have a front load Kenmore 2001 model HE and we just use the HE brand laundry soaps

Was very nice to see Trader Joes laundry soap is HE friendly

These washers use a different formulation b/c they don't require as much water, so there's no need for all the extra sud

Never heard of the packet thingy. Must be new and a newer marketing ploy.

Are the packets really expensive?

AND! Maybe if you have those reusable cloth tea bags. Would something like that work?

Sorry, i;m at a complete loss

Why does it require little packets? Do they fit in a special place or something?

I have a GE front loader and I make my own laundry soap. Yes, mine's new, HE and all of that. Works fine. I think I'd just put the stuff in with the clothes and turn it on. But that's just me.

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.

This washer requires it to be in a little packet
So,
How do I make the little packets?

Sheila,
I have a front load machine my is a Kennmore. I make my own laundry soap for it. I talked to Karin(mumof3) and she has been using her laudrey saop in her machine a long time. I hope that helps.
