Well , we have three. I cut one of the red tip bushes down really short last year and a momma cardinal built a nest in it so low that we can look down in it just from standing there. I noticed the blue eggs a couple of weeks ago and this morning I peeked inside and there they were with their beaks wide open all featherless. I guess mom was looking for food. I just had to share this. I have never had one make a nest that is so easy watch before.

Sorry this is so big. Its my first attempt to post a picture and in phototbucket I had it on the smallest image. So I guess I need a little help.

You are so lucky! I have never seen baby cardinals before. We have tons of adults here but for some reason I have never seen the little ones.

What a joy to see little blue eggs! I'm glad you find such happiness in seeing such a beautiful sight.

We have hummers too , but I can never find their nests. I think they must be so small I can see them . Most of our hummers spend a lot of time in the cedar tree right off the front porch. I hang the feeders for them there. Late last summer we had probably a hundred of them. I filled five feeders every other day. Then they migrated south.

I love nature and all of her creatures, so glad you got to see them up close. I have a hummer that builds her nest in a mirmosa tree right out side my kitchen window every year, love it!
