was nothing! Standing right there in yard with nothing but grass between us was a skunk. Thankfully, it was a small skunk, but still a dang skunk!
It's been pestering everyone around here for the better part of a week. It's been giving the dog fits, spooking the chickens, and driving the kids batty.
No one has taken to shooting it or hunting it down to get rid of it yet, but I sure wish they would. My dog barks all stinking night long because it stands in the yard just out of lead reach.

It's going to rain any second now. The dark clouds are rolling in and I can smell rain. I've got clothes hanging to dry on the line that I need to get off before they get soaked and that stupid skunk is out there babysitting my clothes. As soon as I open the door, he gets up on his haunches and cops an attitude.

What's exciting for yall today? :P

We had a dead skunk in our yard, and it was soooooooooooooo stinky!!!!!!!!
Be careful.
If the smell wafts by your house, and lingers, set out small bowls of white vinegar, it asorbs the smell.
My son and my Dad disposed of said dead skunk, and I had to throw out Josh's clothes. He took two showers for days to get the funk off, and he didn't even touch it. They handled it, very gingerly, with shovels and they still smelled awful.

I'd surely call animal control. Maybe they could set a trap to catch it.

Well that just stinks. My dog is overdue for his rabies shot and I'd hate to think the pesky skunk would make me have to put him down if he gets bit. Plus, its none to thrilling to think that the kids are outside to play with those nuts running loose.
I hope my Dad will shoot them next time he sees them.
Some parts of nature are just yucky!! LOL

Especially For You Posted - Jul 10 2009 : 06:29:25 AM
That was my thought. My DH and I had one chase us up the road when we were going for a walk. We ran home and my DH got his gun and bye, bye, skunk. OOOH boy what a smell. So, jessie please be careful.

Good Luck,
Tina

Jessie, I always thought that if you see a skunk in the daytime there was something wrong with them. They may be rabid or something. So don't let the kids out til someone gets them. I'd call animal control and get them there asap. Be careful, girl.

I bet you had to wash those clothes again if you were smelly.

Well, we've come to the realization there are TWO of them!! My little brother kept going passed the house today and he said he never saw the skunk, but I know that when I tried to go out there to get the clothes, THERE HE WAS!
I keep catching their stinky on the breeze. I came inside earlier from trying to get the clothes and Tori says "PU, Mommy, you stink!" I thought, "Sheesh girl! You don't know what stink is yet!!" lol
I had to shut all the windows and turn on the A/C today.

I wonder if animal control would just come get them. They are out there plain as day to see (unless youre my little brother of course..lol)

Jessie, have you tried spraying it with the water hose? Or can you get a live trap from the animal shelter and trap it? That can be aggravating to have one around for sure. We have one that lives out back on the hill. I smell it sometimes.

Nothing too exiting has happened today, surprisingly. But the day ain't over yet! I was out in the garden field just awhile ago weeding and kept thinking I was going to see a snake but never did. The chicks and guineas were out there with me. I did see a rabbit though.

I sure hope you can get rid of that nasty rascal soon and you get your clothes in before it rains.
