I just read KayB's post about losing her job and wanted to share. Yesterday I came home from a wonderful week on the Palouse and found myself ear to ear with a phone message stating that "I was no longer needed". Yes, I was treated like dirt at that place, so I'm not upset at all, not in the slightest, however, the way they did it was pretty dirty. So to all of you on the chow line, move over, another sister is standing tall beside you.

Ah, it's all good. I did go in today and had a little convo face to face. All in all I think it was handles diplomatically, although they are not changing their stance on the reason of my dismissal. They had no answers nor did they have any solutions. So, deep in my heart I know I am a better person for all of this and I will move on and as another farmgirl told me on the phone today....the best revenge is SUCCESS! I WILL prevail...

That is rude & cold. No place I would even want to work at. Something will come up that you will enjoy more. I like #31 response.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Dawn, so sorry to hear about your job. My heart goes out to you and I pray something better comes along for you. It was really nice to meet you in person although it was a short hello. Take care and remember all your sisters are pulling for you.

Wow! Employers are really going to an all time low. It's not bad enough that they are firing you...they don't even have the decency to tell you to your face. Outrageous! I'm so sorry you have been treated like this, Dawn.

When my husband was fired from a job her had for 21 years and had just received accommodation for a job well done...they told him he was "released". Ugh! I hate that term now. RELEASED...it sounds like he actually wanted to lose his job.

Sorry, I can get rather frustrated when I think about how badly employees are treated now.

All the best to you, Dawn,
Joyce

Their problem, not yours. Keep that in mind. This way of treating folks has nothing to do with you, it is their shortcomings in personel relations.

You could show up today, and say I am so sorry! My message machine was out and you REALLY sent me a message firing me? I am shocked. Well, how about let's do this face to face?

Do they think you're stupid? Seriously, they should have another thing coming. I agree with Jonni that you should scare them with a conversation with the umemployment dept. about this...
I remember quitting a job and feeling so elated that I was crazy with freedom! I'm sure this is a little different, but enjoy finding something else that you truly WANT to be doing! :)

CRAZY!

I'd make a phone call and make an apointment to speak to the manager just to make sure this wasn't a mistake.

Were they downsizing?

If so, that's a really REALLY bad way to do it!

So sorry

Dawn,

I take this as a blessing in disguise. God has something better for you where you will be treated decent. I am praying for you!

What a bunch of humps. Seriously. I don't know about Ohio as an at will employer state, but it wouldn't hurt to discuss this with the unemployment agency and spook em' a bit with a hearing. Just for fun, ya know :) Speaking of which, you need to make sure that you DO apply for unemployment because them stating that you resigned doesn't bode well...

Oh I AM! I am just such a forward person. I call a spade a spade, and there's not much gray area for me. I'm a straight-shooter for sure. THAT'S what bothers me.

My phone message verbatum stated " we accept your resignation and you do not need to come in on Thursday". I'm like "HUH?? WHAT RESIGNATION? I JUST WENT ON VACATION!!!"

Oh no, Dawn! I'm so sorry...but it sounds like you weren't appreciated at all, and sometimes, the universe has a way of making decisions for us (I think). Where one door closes, another bigger, better, brighter one opens. I know this will happen for you! And, um, remember that post a few days back about your inspiration...now's the time to run with it!

Oh Dawn. How awful. And over the phone? Please. What happened to face to face firing?

Well, just enjoy a few days of rest while you can, girl. You deserve it.
