Posted - Jun 24 2009 : 10:52:35 PM Tonite I went bowling after a hiatus of about 20+ years. I did go last week too but tonite something happened that I won't soon forget.
I was tossing the ball and tripped, almost going over the line, the ball rolled down and knocked all ten pins down...a STRIKE!!
Then later I knocked 7 of them down and left 3 up in some sort of configuration that is supposed to be the most difficult to knock down. Yep, you guessed it, I knocked the 3 down too!! Everyone was whooping and hollering and I didn't know what they were going ga-ga about till my hubby 'splained it to me.
Beginners luck is how I see it!!

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 08:41:28 AM Sharon, the same thing happened to me once. I drew the ball back, and it flew off my fingertips and landed and crashed into the scorekeeper's table with a big bang. I won the "most improved bowler" trophy at the league awards that year.

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 08:34:45 AM I could just picture that Winona! Good for you! The last time I went bowling was about 14 years ago on a blind double date with a friend. When I brought my arm back the ball dropped and rolled backwards :)

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 06:33:45 AM I loved bowling, I was on a team for years with my mom. It was fun as we did it for fun. My hightest game was a 245 I think. My average was 130ish. It was just fun. I tried to get my DH interested in it but I blew it when I beat him all 3 games. He will tell you I beat him only because I didn't drink and he did. But us girls know better don't we. Men are so funny at times.

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 03:35:35 AM Oh how fun!
I use my deceased grandmother's ball (she was a lefty too) and her 1950's bolwing shoes. A perfect fit! |

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 01:37:28 AM Way to go Winona! I have only ever bowled once in my life and like you my first roll was a strike but it all went downhill after that...LOL. I decided that wasn't to be my forte so haven't done it since but sounds like you definitely need to keep it up girl...smile.
