Today is my Grandmothers 91st birthday. What a joy she has been for all of my 28yrs! I am so thankful the Lord has blessed me with such a wonderful wise grandmama. We went to the nursing home and celebrated with her today. Took her for a little ride so she get get out and she really seemed to enjoy it although a couple of times she though we were flying in a plane.(No I was not driving, my mom was)Lol. Well I just wanted to share with you a little bit about a very important person to me.

Happiest of birthdays! You are so very lucky to have your Grandmother!! My Great Grandmother passed when I was 14 and I think of her still, everyday, and my grandmother, Helen, passed 5 years ago and I miss her something terrible. All I can say is, if she is able, pick her brain, ask her about her childhood, her relatives, her marriage, whatever information you can discern from the women who've gone before you, makes you the woman you are today!

Thank you all so much for all the sweet comments and b-day wishes. I love my grandmother so much I sure will miss her when shes gone. She wrote some journals for many years and i read them a few weeks ago. Love her stories, some made me laugh some cry but all are wonderful memories.

Happy Birthday to your gramma!! I used to take my gramma for fishfries every friday night it was just the 2 of us and it was wonderful.. When she got sicker and was in a nursing home my mom would go over one night and I the next for years. Every Sunday afternoon I would take my 2 sons with me and the 4 of us would go out for ice cream. My sons still talk about how nice it was to have ice cream time with gramma.
Gramma's are just the best!!! I'm so glad you are enjoying your special time with her. I know she is enjoying her time with you!!

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Happy Birthday to your grandma! I agree with several of the other ladies. I miss my grandmas, especially my Grandma C so much! Learn all of her cherished recipes too besides taping her stories. I did learn how to make grandma's fried cabbage and her goulash but oh I miss her hugs and gettin' to sit on her lap with her apron wrapped around me. Her house was sold and torn down to make a Vet clinic and it makes me so sad when I go back home and drive by and its not there. She had 2 city lots with a hill we could roll down and grapes to pick off the vine and ferns and peonies all over. A nice big garden with bachelor button flowers always at the one end. A little brown wren came to the old rustic birdhouse in her hydrangea bush (but more of a tree) every year. I miss that all so much. Grandmas are a treasure :)

Happy birthday to your Grandma! I sure miss my Grandmas. I wish I had spent more time just visiting. I learned a lot (cooking and sewing) but wish I knew more about what things were like when they were younger. To think that they were born in the 1800's seems impossible. But now that I think about it, this is 2009, THAT is impossible. I am my oldest living relitive and have no one to ask stuff. Scarry that I don't know as much as I should about family history and stuff. Hug your Grandma for me.

Happy Birthday to your Grandmother. Wisdom is an awesome thing! Marly

I sure miss my Grandma too.

When she was 80 years old, she said she was middle aged. My brother asked her if she was planning on living until she was 160! She responded with "Lord willing".

Blessings to you and your Grandmother!

Happy birthday to your Gramma. The older ones have so much to teach us. My Mother is 93 and lives on her own and still DRIVES. Yipes. She knows her limitations. Enjoy your Gramma while you can. MB

Oh, how I miss my Grandmas, they were such huge inspirations to me! Cherish yours for as long as possible, ask her to tell you stories, and record them, They will mean the world to you when she is gone.
