Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 2:15:35 PM Heather.....glad to know Charlie doesn't have to worry about the ants anymore. Yes, I know where New Braunfels is . What a fun place. I love the hill country anyway. I used to want to move there, but that probably won't happen. I just want to feel settled in now. I think I will just visit all the places I like and stay put. |

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 06:56:01 AM Heather I'm glad Charlie is better, poor little guy. I have been to Schliterbahn, that is pretty country. Loved the Alamo, but I'm a history freak, ;^)
Annika I found my Fried Green Tomatoes book and I decided I needed to re-read it. I would love to see the movie, too bad we couldn't see it together.

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 05:42:05 AM Even with fireants I do love Texas. I miss going there and maybe I will get to go back in the future, Have been to San Antonio 2 times and love it. In Ky we have lots of those little sugar ants. I put out Terro and it gets rid of them. You will have to look us up when you get here. Nothing fancy around here just down right country. Also if you like antiques there is a wonderful little show not far from where you are going

Posted - Jun 25 2009 : 05:28:48 AM Thanks Miss Wilma. He is doing better. He is a trooper that kiddo. Sharlet, I live in New Braunfels, right between San Antonio and Austin, well at least until July 6th. Then it is off to Kentucky. If you know where Schliterbahn is, I am about 1 mile from there.
I went through and sprayed the whole house myself. Took Chloe to the river so I could leave the windows open. Came back and starting in Charlies room, wiped everything down with straight vinegar and vacuumed. So far so good. I pray it stays this way.

Posted - Jun 24 2009 : 08:23:53 AM Heather... where do you live in the hill country? I,m about 17 miles southwest of Corsicana. We had some rain earlier but now it is getting really dry and hot, hot , hot. |
| catscharm74 |
Posted - Jun 24 2009 : 07:08:51 AM I think it is because it is SOOOOO dry here in Texas, at least the hill country, that everything is trying to come inside. I am so hopping mad right now!!!!

Posted - Jun 24 2009 : 06:49:36 AM Heather I'm with you. If my baby had ant bites like that I would be really mad. Have the apts. sprayed yet! Right now we are having a flea problem. I even know people who don't have pets and are having a flea problem. So we have been spraying, even though I don't like the chemicals. I have been putting frontline on the dogs and cat. Don't really like that either. Hope you get the ants under control. Until then...... TOWANDA RULES1 |

Posted - Jun 23 2009 : 5:19:00 PM I had a major TOWANDA moment today...where you just won't put up with anymore s**t...sorry for the swearing but somedays I could smack someone.
3 weeks ago, I asked the apartment manager to have them come over and spray for red ants. With it being SO hot and dry here, they come in to get water and whatever else they can get. Well remember my ant problem in the garage??? That was just the tip of the iceberg. I got a call from Charlie's daycare that he had broken out in a rash...rush to school...rush home...rush to doctor...have to keep him home 48 hours until they can figure out what is wrong. Well, I go to change his sheets on his bed (since I was called away in the midst of doing them today) and his bed is INFESTED WITH ANTS!!!! OH MY GOD!!! I AM SO STEAMING!! My poor little boy was getting eaten alive and all because they didn't come to spray. It makes me feel dirty but I have 90% of the house packed up and all my open food was used up and I just cleaned the whole entire house, wiping down with bleach and vinegar. I am so mad right now...I marched right over to that office and tore them a new one. They are nice people but slow off the line in getting things done. They rather sit around and gossip. I think they did feel bad because Charlie is ate up....literally...he is going to sleep with me tonight so I can put some aloe on his bites. I am mad and now I am worried more ants are going to get in. I went an re-mopped all the linoleum with borax and water, I laid down cinnamon at all the door and windows sills outside and I had to use ant killer in Charlie's bedroom. I have the window open and I dragged his dresser out into the hallway so I can get his clothes. I am so mad....Towanda had her day today!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....

Towanda is from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Kathy Bates played a character that referenced herself as Towanda when her hormonal changes kinda took over and she did some crazy off the wall things. you would have to see the movie to get the full impact. We all love the movie here.
