It is one of those times I realize just why the apron was used so much back then. Anyone in the kitchen should be using one. I was wearing one of my favorite dresses and I had an apron on doing some cooking, baking and cleaning the other day ... We were just about to keep the grease from some good bacon when I accidentally dropped something and the thing holding the bacon grease went flying everywhere. Wouldn't you know ...that apron saved my dress? Thankfully, the grease/oil wasn't too hot, and all I did was dunk the apron into some cold soapy water and it was fine, but it could've been much worse. Of course, I was upset because I was planning to use that bacon grease for something else, but I was sure glad I had the apron on!

Jenny I'm with you on the overalls, though I probably wear mine more often than an apron. My aprons are great though. My brithday is coming up July 6th and I asked my mom to make some new aprons for me! I'm so excited, my old ones were really wearing out and now I'll have beautiful new ones to wear in the kitchen and the garden!

On the overalls, I generally put them on Friday when I get home from work and proceed to wear them the entire weekend while I'm cleaning, baking, canning, working in the garden, picking berries, etc. I really love those overalls.

The chief source of failure and unhapiness is trading what you want the most for what you want at the moment.

Wow! Tammy! That is a big thing right there. I am so glad you had your apron!!

I am trying to make it more of a habit for me, I must admit, even though I adore them.

I am always in either an apron or bib overalls...most often an apron. I don't see how folks get by NOT wearing them!!!

I wore my apron to pick strawberries last week. Had my keys and cell phone in the pocket along with a hankie. Before I even got a berry in my bucket my phone rang ...Mom had a heart attack ( she is doing well). IF I had not had on my apron my phone would have been in the car. Aprons ARE important to wear.

Leslie, I wish I would have thought about aprons years ago when I did daycare! That would have saved me alot of clothes!! I have a lovely new apron from auntpammy who was my secret sis that never goes out to collect eggs - it's just too nice! That one is inside use only!!! And Brooke, someday you'll have the perfect egg collecting apron, I had to wait a long time for my stubborn ol hens to decide they wanted to share their eggs with the family!

deeredawn sent me an apron and I wear it all the time! I do child care, and I end up with splattered food, soapy dishwater, sometimes bleach, and garden dirt all over the front of me. I tossed all my old t-shirts that are now ruined, and now I wear my nice ones with my apron and I LOVE it!
