I ordered Jus some custom sterling silver cufflinks from a seller on Etsy, and she was sooo nice, and got such great feedback, and she was very quick about sending them and the packaging is great...but the cufflinks themselves aren't at ALL what I'd hoped, or even what I viewed on her site.

She recommended the "octagon" because they were out of the circle, and so I chose the octagon, but she didn't say they would be hand cut shapes--so some of the sides aren't the same length, and with wording, appears a bit "wonky"....and then there's the wording. You really can't see it. On the site, it shows them as antiqued, so the wording really stands out. The link that says, "Seven lb. One Oz. Stunner" the "e"s and the "n"s are too deeply punched and end up being just dents with no discernable shape. So, you can't read it, really. I know what it's supposed to say, but he won't. And why give a gift that you have to explain?

I contacted the seller and she was very nice about it, but said she'd get back to me yesterday afternoon and didn't. And there was nothing this morning. So, I'm a bit blue about it. He has something else, but he ordered it for himself (a WWII model plane) but I guess I'll have to run around tonight and see what I can come up with.

BUMMER!

Sharon, what a great idea! I have it here on my system and I can maneuver it right here!

I did pay through paypal...still haven't heard from her. Will give her the benefit of the doubt of a busy weekend, but on Monday, if nothing, the gloves come off and I will do what Betty suggests.

Like Alee said, I would keep sending her e-mails. Then I would put a short P.S. at the end and ask her if she wanted negative feedback. She might wake up at that one.

Jonni,

I'm sorry to hear about the cuff links. I agree with Alee and would keep trying to get a hold of her to make right on this transaction.

In the meantime...I think that sweet picture of Violet and Daddy's leg? would be adorable in Black & White, cropped and framed for Father's Day

I don't know anything about "etsy", but I know if you pay thru paypal, and you are "screwed" by the seller, they will get your money back.

I'm not sure...they had a gallery "closing all things must go" sign out a few weeks back and have been in battle with the Mainstrasse association. Ooh! I forgot about Nest! Some of my favorite gifts received (from MIL) have come from there...

Hey Jonni
Is Leapin Lizard in Covington still around?? They were on Main St I think
What about checking out Nest in Oakley.. They have some cool things too.
I called BIL & he said the place in Tower Place is closed..the place is a ghost town.

You're so right, Marybeth...she really is the gift, but I wanted to do something really nice for him. I love Etsy, but there is something to be said about "seeing it with my own hands"!!

Lisa...are you talking about Mahatma, or another shop? I haven't been to TP since I worked at the Mole Hole in 1993....I wouldn't know what's there anymore.

And, tomorrow is totally out because I'm in Indy the whole day at a recital and then Max's 3rd birthday.

I loooove last minute stuff!!!

Oh Jonni--first the Mother's day thing and now a Father's day thing. The best gift you both have is that little sweetie herself.
But i do think a key chain with the engraving might do the trick. MB

I'll say a prayer for you Jonni
I know when I get near a mall, my palms get sweaty & my BP rises.. Hate Them!!
What about that neat place in Tower Place Mall?? Can't think of the name but my BIL always gets Xmas gifts there & they are always unique & arty.

I'm on it, Lisa...headed over to the Mall (blech, yuk, pooey!) this evening to find a shirt for myself, and will try to see if I can come up with something like that there.

Jonni
Can you find a neat pair locally & get them engraved at one of those mall shops like Things Remembered??
Or maybe get him a key to put on his keychain, engraved with the same thing..sort of a key to my heart type idea.
The message is so sweet, it would be nice to try to find an alternative (in only 2 days HA)

Oh No! I would keep sending her emails. *hugs* How disappointing!
