Got word yesterday that some of the rif-raff that lives up the road will be vacating sometime next week!

Among these people is the "kid" who races his big stupid truck in the woods, and leaves a trail of beer cans in his wake. He's the one who last summer decided to drive up a small branch of our creek and got way stuck about a 1/4 mile in. I laughed so hard and almost slashed his big stupid tires right there. The dog killed a chicken last fall and the people never reimbersed me...even though the 3rd shift working mother was mortified. I think she knew hubby would have shot the dog had he tried it again. He's just a fixture poor thing

The final straw was when the owner had an unauthorized credit card stolen and usd by this kid' new good-for-nothing girlfriend. There's a warrent out for her arrest. She hit the road.

This ALSO means the alcoolic dad will be leaving. There were 4 people including Tommy living in his house and trashing it as they went along

BUT! The 10 acre parcel of land at the top of the road is for sale. Tommy has to cut his losses somewhere. So a few of us in the surrounding bits of land are afraid it will all be snapped up and turned inot a mobile home park. Then we'll be worse off than before

Meantime, we'll enjoy the peace. As the owner, Tommy agrees has been a VERY long time coming!

It's been a quiet weekend.....thank goodness!

All the family got together and during our outside dinner, it was QUIET!

No 4 wheelers or mini bikes racing up and down the road

I'll probably walk the woods tonight juast to have a look-see

ANd yes, were we not saving for a kitchn remodeling project next spring, we'd have already been to the bank post haste.

One neighbor's eyes lit up when I mentioned something about 3 of us splitting the land.

But we are all a bit hard pressed for the moment.

Good news is, there's a ton of land all around in our community for sale.

Guess some are timbering it off and selling. Most has been on the market for about 6 months now. None has been sold thus far.

The rif-raff is still in Tommy's house....but I'm just going by vehicle engine noise and the number of cars.

We'll see what happens by Friday. And hopefully Tommy won't get all soft on them either

Anna:
What a neighbor! I'd say buy the land, too!

maybe talk to the guy that owns it and ask him if he'll allow you and some of the other neighbors who are willing/able to turn the land into a csa adventure/or a community garden.
that way you'd be guaranteed that you would not have riff raff in and the guy that owns it could get some good out of it as well. just a thought.

I agree too! Gotta get it together to somehow buy that land! Then problem is solved forever!

That is just what I was thinking! Recruit your friends and neighbors to buy the land and then divy it up or leave it as is as a "park" or whatever. Good luck! *hugs*

Oh, Anna, it does feel like the sky opens and the heavens appear when the bumpus's move out, doesn't it? We had a house like that on our little street...every single family in it was some how (inter)related and they were as bumpkin as the next. My favorite was one lovely Christmas Eve, while baking pies, I went to open the window for some air and when I parted the kitchen curtains, I looked out across the two yards into theirs and saw a deer head, hanging in the tree, just looking right into my window. I quickly shut back the curtains and tried to forget it...except it hung out there in that tree, full view of my kitchen window from Christmas Eve until they moved out in November of the next year....each day it shiveled a little bit more until it was much like a shrunken head.

Bumpkins!

Goodness, Anna, you sure you don't live in MY neck of the woods?! We have some similar lovely neighbors!
