Nora has been very bad this week with my things!

Earlier this week, she was watching a movie on my computer while I did some Farm chores. I came back in after only being outside for about 5 minutes to find that she had pried off about a quarter of the keys off the laptop's keyboard. The all went on okay except for the space bar which isn't completely anchored anymore.

Then today, she found some contact rinse solution and squirted it all over the computer. My touch pad mouse isn't working and my Y key and a few others aren't working properly. Luckily, I have a voice recognition program that I have "trained" a bit before so I am able to use it to click when the mouse is needed and it types for me when the key is broken.

So please forgive any typos that might appear.

Hugs

I thought about this post this morning when Owen broke my eye glasses. I guess I know what I'm getting for my birthday now.

Oh, Alee! It will get better with time! I promise!

When I was little my parents left me alone in a room with a brand new white couch and pens lying around. What did they expect?

They left my two-year-old brother in the car (with it running) and he tried to drive it. He ended up plowing into the tractor at the bottom of the hill. What were they thinking?

I think that kids realize that as soon as they are alone it is Carpe diem, baby!

I don't know I think as they get older the repairs just get more expensive. In the last month we have had 1 G1 cell phone totally destroyed, 1 car totaled, one laptop which had to have the fan replaced because of cat hair and one laptop screen replaced because the older daughters great dane stepped on it. Plus the hospital and surgery bills for the one that was driving the car. Yup, just more expensive to repair.

I learned a plastic drinking cup dropped down the duct work will melt and run everyone out of the house with the toxic fumes. My oldest son taught me that one when he was about 18 months old. At about the same age both he and then later his younger brother taught his dad and I that Ivory soap does not break apart if flushed down the toilet. It requires a major rotor rootering job. We loved that little lesson....TWICE.....LOL Hang in there Alee :) Children teach us patience and new cuss words....LOL.

Well, it looks like most of my keyboard is back to functioning properly. My FN key that controls volume and all the other little "shortcuts" is still not working which is frustrating and my left ALT key isn't working either. My mouse is still fried as well. I think she must have shorted out a section of the controls or something. But luckily all the FN key thinks can be worked around or not used, and I do have another ALT key and I can buy a mouse to go into the USB ports- I am just sad that my brand new computer is broken already :(

Sherri- I knew you weren't making light of the situation! :D It's good advice to remember that "This too shall pass" in both the good and the bad ways. I am sure that I will be nostalgic for this age once she is out of it. She has a very sweet innocence about her and it is so funny to see her "pull an attitude" and then the next minute she will be hugging me so tight and raining kisses on my face. I love her lots but wheeoo! Some days she needs to be in a padded room with lots of toys because she bounces around so much! LOL

alee,
i know that weeks can be really long and frustraiting, but you will miss this stage. as for the computer, lonnie squirted my laptop screen with a squirt gun and i just about freaked when everything went black. i took it apart and let it dry for a few days and when i put it back together it was fine.......maybe you'll have the same luck.

I'm sorry your frustrated. Anyone who has children can sure relate. I cannot begin to remeber all of the things that my two boys got into at that age. It does get better as they get older. So much easier. Only when they become teenagers like mine are, I think the worrying increases by leaps and bounds.
Lilwing, toilet paper used to be my Patrick's thing. He used to think it was the funniest thing in the world if he could get even a few sheets around the house before I noticed. He's 14 now and taller than I am. It can get annoying when everyone tells you to enjoy them while they are little because they grow up so fast. But it sure is true.
(((Hugs Alee))) and know that we are thinking of you.

Alee, I could write a book with all the things my kids tore up or messed up. The thing that sticks most in my mind in the record player needle Heather broke off. We never had another one after that.

They would always get into things when they were by theirselves. Whenever it got too quiet I'd know something was happening. That's just being a kid, I think. It gets better as they get older, don't worry.

I hope it all dries out by tomorrow too - I hope you didn't think I was making light of your troubles - it's just a perspective from the "other side", having been through it myself!

Sherri- Yes I am sure in time it will be an amusing story- but right now I am still a bit perturbed. It looks like my "y" key is functioning again though- so that is great! My poor computer is lucky to even work at all! I would bet she put a good half cup of fluid on it. Hopefully it will be all dried out by tomorrow.

Oh, that sounds very frustrating - but please print out a copy of your posting and stick it away in her baby book and read it about 15 years from now. It'll be a memory then that you'll laugh about (I promise!). But until then, I'm sorry - I know how you feel. When my kids were little they did the same kind of things but with much more primitive tools than the computer!!
