Well, Violet is nearly 4 months old and to date, I still get from folks, "she looks just like you!" and "Tell Justin he doesn't have a baby!" OR, "she reminds me so much of Justin when he was small"...but the weird thing is, I think she's just "Violet".

I see in her photos, people that I don't know, or that are no longer with us (my father) and that's what I find so remarkable about babies....

Jus took this last night after I'd gotten done in the kitchen (hence the red cheeks)...here she is giving goofy eyes, but she doesn't look like me at all (but she does, however, look incredibly cute )

This one is just too cute, and she looks like Fruit Stripe Gum with all her stripes...thank you St. Vincent's for her .50 pants :)

Thank you, truly, Corinne...that is so very kind. I do think motherhood suits me...everything about me is somehow softer (including my body, but that's another issue ;)), and it shows in almost all the photos that are taken of Violet and I together.

Thanks, Karin--I'm going to stick with that, I think...she's simply Violet, and that's pretty wonderful!

Jonni- Violet is absolutely adorable! You're right, she looks just like herself right now. Cute as pie.

It is good for you then, Jonni and Violet will be very happy to have pictures of her family at her early age.
I am glad to put a (sweet) face on your name.
Have a great day,

Thank you very kindly, Corinne...I don't often like photos of myself, but lately, as Jeannie mentioned, there is a new found happiness in me, and I like everyone I've had taken with Violet Mae :)

What an cool thing, AnneMarie. I'd love to read about that...I'm always so fascinated by our origins as species, and the "why's"...how very interesting!!!

She is too cute. I can see traces of you in her face, I'm not sure what your hubby looks like.

I've heard that babies generally resemble their fathers for the first year of life (I guess some prehistoric safety mechanism) then they begin looking like themselves (or resembling one parent or the other).

Jeannie, I can't deny that...it's so very true. Don't know what I did before her...I'm sure your daughter feels the same away about her own :)

Thanks again, girls for the compliments on Violet...she is an absolute joy--wakes up happy, goes to bed happy (except last week when her little gums hurt!) and she laughs constantly.

Katie..I NEVER would have thought that I would have a baby--never. But here she is, and I am hooked (on her, at least) :)

Jessie, that's really funny about Tori...we have both had such trouble trying to "see" each other in her. My husband says she looks just like me, and I think it's him...then some days, she looks like our nephew! Whatever the mix, I love it!

What a sweetie, she is Jonni! I just love seeing pics of her!
Tori didn't look like either my husband or I when she was little. She hit around 9 months and then she started looking like a mirrored image of my baby pictures. :D

Thanks, girls, really, truly. She's the love of my life!!! I'm going to agree with Alee and think that maybe she'll start to really "look" like someone around 2-3...the first picture, with the bug eyes she looks like a baby pic of Justin's, and the last photo, I haven't the slightest. She really doesn't look like anyone we know, which is soooo interesting. Sometimes, she gets this real sly smile and she looks like my father in photos from 1923.

Lisa, she does remind me of Justin often...there's a pic on the blog where she is Justin out and out.

Thanks, too, for the compiments to her mama--I was pretty hot from cooking, but I guess not too awful!

My she is sure growing! I agree with Alee though....it seems they change so much in the first year it takes a while to see who they are going to favor!
She is so adorable though!!
