This is a VERY busy week for us. My daughter Katie graduates from high school this Sunday. I just got my stitches out of my leg- still healing a bit. Natalie my youngest took Jack, our dog for a walk and fell over a curb and gashed her knee- up to the er and 4 stitches for her. She also starts softball tonight. I could really use some farmgirl support this week to get thru it and not have a meltdown- I can feel one coming on! A lot of big events happening for my family. I'm getting weepy!

I would love to see photos!!! I'm so glad everything turned out, and you know, 99% of folks wouldn't notice if something wasn't exactly the way you planned...we are so overly self critical, and like the other posters said, you can't shoulder it all--I know it was wonderful, and I know your daughter appreciated it the most. Darn it! If I lived closer, I would have packed up Violet in the sling and we would have been there in a jif to keep those dogs warm!
With Violet, I am learning my limitations--I used to be a superwoman, now I'm superwoman's assistant :) In the end, noone ever says to me, "why didn't you do more?" They won't say it to you, either...

Well it turned out to be a wonderful day- weather was GREAT, graduation ceremony was long, my daughter was and is beautiful! We celebrated her. Today is cleanup and laundry. Everything turned out so nice- at least in my eyes. I would love to post some pictures- maybe I can try again to figure it out! Thank you friends for your encouragement!

I agree with Sheep Mom 2. Just enjoy the day and maybe some family members will see your need and help at the park. Delegate jobs to anyone who offers a hand. And by all means....enjoy the day with your daughter. It only happens once.

Lori if you've done your best and I am sure you have - put it in Gods hands and let it go. All anyone can do is their best. To take 100% responsibility on your shoulders is silly. Your daughter isn't going to love you any less if the hot dogs are lukewarm...sometimes girl you just gotta let go or you won't enjoy the day which is the whole point. There isn't anything else you CAN do. Relax and enjoy the rest of your evening and the ceremony and festivities tomorrow. If anyone should judge you for any imperfections - where were they when you could have used a hand anyway?!!!

we are having her party at a park-I am including her Dad's side of the family. So we wanted to have a neutral spot. I'm a little concerned that we will have things set up and no one will be at the park to watch over things. We are using Nescos for the brats, hamburgers and hotdogs. I am setting up a TV with DVD player for her slide show. All of the baking is done and food is prepared as much as can be. I think I'm set- but I feel so unsure of myself!

Know anyone that has some of those big portable roasters?(the kind that plug in for turkey's and the like) Perhaps you can pre-warm hotdogs and brats and send them with the friend that didn't bail and there will be less to do at the site? Not knowing what your facilities are it's difficult to help. Isn't there anyone else you can enlist to help? A friend from church or work? How about one of your kids friends? I don't know if any of this helps. Know I am thinking of you. Believe me I know how you feel as I have around 100 coming here Sept. 5th for my son's wedding.

well- the meltdown has started. I have been baking and cooking and finishing things up for Katie's graduation party for tomorrow. I can't stop the tears and there is so much more to finish.
I had set up three friends to set everything up while I am at the ceremony and two of them have bailed on me. I tried to have them confirmed that they would be able to help- but that happen too early and things have come up for them. Now I am not sure how the brats, hamburgers and hotdogs will get to the park and warmed. Any ideas out there?
I know it's time to pull up the boot straps and get 'r done!! But I need help!!

Good thoughts coming your way, Lori! You sure are busy, but just think...this time next week, you'll be going, "now what can I get into???" Poor Natalie--you both are keeping the E.R. busy, I guess.
Have a wonderful (if not wild) week and enjoy all the milestones (and if you have to have a good cry, do!).
