Late this afternoon I planted "Julie's Rose" (Hansa Rose) with a little help from my Jack Russell "Truman!"
Thanks again dear friend...
Melody
I just wanted to give a farmgirl shout out to my good friend Julie, otherwise known as Paradise Plantation on the forum...I have been corresponding with Julie for some time at least once a week for quite a while. We have become very close friends in a very short time... Anyway after complaining to her in my last letter about my poor attempt at container gardening...( we have had next to nothing for rain or anything near springlike temperatures...) to my surprise at approximately 2:00 Saturday afternoon our local postal truck pulled up to the house with a very SPECIAL delivery from Paradise Plantation in Louisianna...the box was marked fragile and liquid...after opening this rather large impressive box I found 2 envelopes one instructed me to read it first before proceeding to open the box. My jaw dropped and the laughter poured forth. Inside the box were two huge mason jars tenderly and carefully packed and labeled mind you, containing you will never guess.... RAINWATER that Julie collected from a bucket in the field behind her house and one VERY carefully packed bag of what we call up her in the good old UP cow pies or as Julie described and labled Cow "litter" she is truely a well born and bred "Southern Belle!" And I just love her for her wisdom, her humor and her limitless ability to give and give and give, whether it be good advice, encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, a buddy to laugh until you can't breathe and someone who will literally send you BS in the mail! (Thank you Elvis!!) AND....Thank you Julie dear! I know this will make my garden thrive and it is so nice to know that you have shared a part of Paradise with me. I feel like a part of you will be with me in my own back yard.
Love you!

Posted - Jun 09 2009 : 7:32:28 PM Julie! Hi there! You are an angel in my eyes. I will never forget that package of yarn arriving at my house. I have to let you know that I did crochet at least twelve hats out of the yarn. So, at least, 12 homeless people had warm hats. Thanks to you. Take care. Marly

Posted - Jun 09 2009 : 05:17:50 AM Oh, Melody! You don't know how hard Randy had to hold me back to keep from calling you Saturday and Sunday to see if you got the package! Just in case you hadn't he didn't want me to spoil the surprise. I am SO glad you liked it, and that it brought such laughter. See? You never know what this Southern Belle has up her sleeve! Oh. And Elvis says, 'Your welcome.' And Farm Girls -- y'all just don't know how fun and wonderful and great Melody is. I am truly blessed to have her as a friend. Especially one who likes the Paradise Plantation brand of BS!!!! Melody, I hope your garden is already growing by leaps and bounds! And Marly, you need more yarn, you just email me, and I'll ship it out!

Posted - Jun 07 2009 : 8:04:50 PM Melody: Ditto on all the great words for Julie. When I first started chatting with Maryjane's farmgirls, I mentioned that I crocheted hats for the homeless. Julie sent me by UPS a box of yarn. How kind is that!!!!!!!!!! Other times, she gave me great comfort. She is truly an angel. Marly
