Well, as some of you know Dawn(Deeredawn)is coming to the BBB and staying with me for about a week, June 30-July 7. She seems to be balking at the working vacation I had envisioned for her LOL! I've been trying to find events/places/touristy/ things that are specific to the area, but I'm coming up with a big ole' goose egg. Any suggestions? What's going on in the CDA, Spokane, area, also anything for Whitman county? You would think I would know these things, living here for almost 19 years, but I'm a certifiable homebody Of course, we'll be doing the BBB event, but other than that I'm clueless. I guess I could take her to Spokane valley and show her the house Bing Crosby lived in, hehehehe.

The bordello closed down in '88 - my uncle was a cab driver in Spokane for a while and he actually drove one of the working girls all the way up to Wallace from Spokane once.

Hey, the bordello closed down in 1988 or the museum closed down? Boy, the things that go on around here that I just wouldn't have guessed. Not so sure how I'd feel about visiting such a recently run bordello. 100 years of time passing by without any "business" kind of dampens the ick factor for me a bit.

It's the Oasis Bordello Museum in Wallace, Idaho, a little over an hour east of Spokane. I went there last year and it is an interesting museum. It only closed down in January 1988. Anyhow, I highly recommend it. Also there is a mine tour which is equally interesting and very good. Plus Wallace is just a cute little town.

OH, take her fishing/sightseeing up the St. Joe. I don't know with this crazy winter how the huckleberry crop will be coming along then, but maybe you can even go picking? It's right in the garnet hunting area.

I heard there is a very unusual museum in some town around here that starts with a W. Anyone help me out? "Working gals" from the old west days. That's on my list of curious places to get to this summer. And I've heard there are good antique shops there too.

are you sneaking behind my back TS?

And why is it that I cannot be trusted at the Davenport? haha....

And I'm NOT opposed to a working vacation. I think it'd be fun. Again, DO NOT GO OUT OF YOUR WAY. I have a lot of experience entertaining myself. Heck, gimme a yard sale and I'm golden! tee hee...

Oooh, oooh, oooh, I wanna camp in a treehouse too.....
Funny thing about the Davenport - when I worked in the bulk food section at the store I work at I had an incident with the honey warmer, had to drain 3 gallons of cold honey out of a 5 gallon container. It took forever!! At the end of the day my mom and I were supposed to go have tea at the park, she got to my work and says "let's do something different and go to the Davenport", which we did but I was a mess, even had honey on my eyelids - I felt very conspicuous to say the least. My husband and I stayed there on our honeymoon - it was great but I had to use a chair to get on the bed 'cause they are so tall:)

You ladies could come do some wine tasting..... it would not take much urging for the Prosser Farmchicks to join you when it comes to wine.

That would be awesome if you could come Amy Grace! I'm kinda thinking about staying in the treehouse and doing that camping out thing for a badge while she's here, it would be fun if you could join us for that too.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but Cathy, when I think of Dawn and the Davenport, oh, lord, have mercy, LOL!!! What do you think Rene'? Hahahaha

I second Uniontown - there are at least 4 cool antique shops there too, my mom and I did a field trip there last summer - also Palouse. The silver valley is kind of a fun field trip too - beautiful and lots of history. I will check dates and see if I can come up with anything else - of course you should daytrip to Moscow, in fact Teresa Sue you should do it on a day when I can go with you (listen to me inviting myself along...). Because of work I'm not sure how much of the BBB I will be able to catch but I dearly want to meet Dawn (or is that deerely??)

Dahmen Artisan Barn in Uniontown, Sage Bakery if you are there on a Friday or Saturday, and as Cathy said, WSU is always good!
