I am trying to remember to use reusable bags and more cloth towels than paper etc. What are some other things that will save money, be green, and are free. I am getting caught up in the material world again. I think I'm gonna limit my tv. Thanks again! :)

Wow, Shari...you go, girl!
I've stopped buying (except for necessities like food, tp, soap, etc.). The less I buy, the less will have to go into a landfill when I'm done with it...not to mention saving money! We've also done away with paper towels (I do miss them, though).

I LOVE going back to the old ways! My washer is outside, we wash with cold water for most stuff, and line dry. The washer drains under an old tree so the water goes right back to our groundwater supply. All of our gray water returns to us! The only drawback is that cloudy days take forever to dry the laundry. |

I don't know if you are wanting to keep the old towels and rags for your own use but I know that there are rescues out there for dogs, cats, horses and even small animals like ferrets, chinchilla's hamsters etc that can use stained or towels with ragged edges. I also use a clothes line even though I have to hide it from my housing association. I have used old blankets for the batting in quilts and today I used an old CD to stabilize the bottom of a tote bag I am crocheting for the crochet merit badge. I only use my dishwasher once a day and use old jars to store food in the fridge rather than plastic containers.

AH yes that was another wonder for me.....clothes that are pretty good but stained or just not what I would donate or sell.....I don't know if I'd use all the squares or if anyone would buy them or trade... I hate throwing material of any sort away and we have enough rags for now.

I just like to like make a list of things and that's the best way I get organized :-p I already have Christmas present ideas that I want to make. I TRULY think I'm jumping into the homemade present way of things. :-D

We also use cloth napkins and love them :)
~I save my milk jugs and use them for storing Iced Tea, Homemade Gatorade for my husband and Meadow Tea.
~I try to find a way to re-purpose items before getting rid of them.
~I am limiting trips to the Thrift Store (I am so missing this, but it saves on me cluttering)
~I also recycle paper. When I get junk mail, if the sheet is blank on one side I cut the pages in half or quarters and then stack and staple together to use as a note pad or memo pad. I can't stand just throwing it away unless it's completely written on :)
~Any old clothes I have which may be torn (not in good enough condition to wear or donate) I am saving the fabric from to make yoyos and perhaps one day a scrap quilt.

I love cloth napkins, they are one of life's simple pleasures for me and much better than using the paper ones for the enviro.

This may seem like a no brainer but we use cloth napkins all the time
And for groceries, in addition to cloth bags, I also use one of those huge insulated bags. It holds a ton and reduces the number of trips in and out to the vehicle when I get home |

use a clothes line instead of a dryer----gets you outside.
Also fill empty plastic milk containers filled with rain to water your plants and flowers
Change your lightbulbs to the ones that saves $$$$$
cut down your shower time---save some water
reuse reuse reuse til its worn out.

Take a walk instead of watching TV, even if only for a half hour. You benefit and the earth does at the same time.
