Today I woke up and something was different. I don't know if something changed in my head or what but *shrugs*.

I woke up and the sun was shining, and even though the house is a mess I was in a good mood. It was so nice because usually the house in this state just depresses me and then we get locked into this self perpetuating cycle.

Something one of the farmgirls posted over on a different thread was a little anecdote about how a certain housewife got up everyday, got her hair fixed and makeup on before her husband got up so that the first lady he saw each day was his beautiful wife. I thought that was a rather good idea, so this morning I got up, got my shower and fixed my hair. I put on my make up and got dressed (after a rather embarassing incident with the egg delivery boy handing me eggs while I was still only in my bath robe! Oh my gosh I am still blushing!)

I put on some earrings that deeredawn gave me and Doug told me I looked really nice today!

I have already gotten some things done around the house- some vacuuming done and some laundry started.

It has just been such a nice morning! I could really get used to getting up, getting cleaned up, doing my "time" with the chores for the day, and then spending the rest of the day doing fun things with Nora, the garden, my sewing- just making a happy home and life.

I know that sounds kind of sappy, but the past few years have been very stressful. I have so enjoyed staying home with Nora, but now I think I am looking at the bright side of the other aspects of staying home too!

Come fall I will be back in School again and Nora will spend a few hours each week in daycare while I go to classes, but that's good too.

I am so thankful for the Now in my life. I have been looking back and forwards and I think I have been forgetting to see the NOW.

Okay- off to do dishes and fold laundry! My goal is for when Doug to come home tonight for him to be stunned at how much different the house looks! It's going to be a pinch for time because I do have some errands I have to run and Doug has the car today- so Walking it is!

Thanks ladies! You all are so sweet! Today has been a wonderful- and productive- Day! I didn't get to work on my sewing like I was hoping, but I am making up for a semester worth of neglect on my housework so I guess that is to be expected.

Tomorrow should "mop up" the last of the heavy duty housework- I made such huge amounts of progress today! I really am proud!

Lets see- I did a mountain of laundry and only have about a load and a half of back log folding to do-
Got the bed stipped, washed and remade
Got the folded clothes put away
Washed about 3 sinks of dishes
wiped down the kitchen counters
Walked a mile to and then back to pay our water bill
Checked on getting our car registration moved to Montana
Biked a mile and back to a friends house to let her dogs out while she is out of town
Let Nora feed a Horse and a mule on the way back
Let Nora play in the backyard
Did more laundry and dishes while Nora slept
Got a pot roast cooking and roasted vegetables

I am feeling really proud. I have the timer on so I can get a quick bath in before Doug gets home so we can enjoy the night together- I feel kind of grimy and sweaty-

And.... My make up is still on through all of that and I haven't touched up anything but my lipstick!

I may just have to try that.. I hate looking in a mirror so I usually don't comb my hair especially in the morning then I run to grammas to take care of her and if I have time I stop over to Nancy's or go to the thrift, pick up grocerys ect. Come home and may glance in the mirror and go Oh my stars!!!

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

What a great post Alee! I am so glad that you are feeling encouraged today :) It truly does make a difference when we can get up and fix up :) I try to do that when I am feeling under the weather, it seems to help.

It's especially nice when our honeys notice too!

I love getting up early and jumping right to it. It's nice to not have chores hanging over your head throughout the day so you can find time for enjoyable things :)

Glad your day is a good one and hope the rest are too:)

That right Nancy. My DH's grandmother, who taught me many, many things, always told me get right on your housework in the morning because then you can spend the afternoons working on what ever quilt or handwork you had going on. BTW, I'm going to use that line about the president or queen dropping by on my grandchildren, hehehe.

MY Grandma used to say,"until you put yourself and your surrondings in order you won't feel right".She also used to say, "It doesn't take any longer to put something that looks good on as not". She also used to tell me when I was little and I belived everything she said, " now lets get everything in order, you never know when the president or the Queen might stop by'.I spent a lot of time looking for them to come. Grandma, always had her work done in the morning and was sitting on the front porch in the afternoon reading.

Alee, you are just a lovely person. =) What a great post! Thanks! It encourages me to try and look my best for Drew and to make my home a happier and brighter place. Thank you. And you don't sound sappy in the least...the incident with the egg boy is funny! I hope that you have a bright and happy day with Nora!
