I didn't know if anyone had heard about the tornadoes that hit around here but wanted to check in to let you all know we are ok. I was in the basement when it passed over or near our home. We lost our electricity yesterday, but it's back on now. There is terrible damage in two areas of our county. In the community where I live, Waco, and in an area to the west of us, Kirksville. There were two people killed there and several injured.

We went out to survey the damage and my husband took photos. When he uploads them to the net I'll post the address in case anyone would like to see. They've declared a state of emergency in our county and the National Guard has been called in to help out. Please remember those who lost their homes and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. There were over 150 homes destroyed or damaged in our county. One home that was destroyed belonged to a relative of mine and someone who works with my dad. He just lost his mother the same week I lost mine and now this happens. Thankfully no one was home because the house is pretty much gone.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. We are too, here in S.E. KS. Most of the wind was just a few miles north as it headed on east to MO. Our daughter told us there was a lot of downed trees in town. We just had a few small dead limbs.

Raining again today. Really getting tired of it. We still don't have all the garden planted. Too muddy to get out there, now the weeds are growing and will have to be tilled again. That is the best thing about raised beds. You can work out there even in the rain.

Lainey, so glad all is well with you and feel sad for others in your area that had harder times. Will be thinking and praying for the families who lost loved ones.

I am glad that you are okay. I have been through one tornado a few year back that took out 5 acres of trees on the back of my place and that was a small one. I will keep all of you folks in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Leslie. I heard that he and his wife are staying at the house his mom lived in for now. My aunt went to help clean up there today and she had a spell, almost fainted, and had to be rushed by ambulance to the hospital. She's back home and ok now, but it was scary.
