Last night near 11:00 the phone rang. Before I even went to get it I had a feeling it was the police. I'm kind of weird like that, sometimes I know who it is before I answer it. Anyway... it was the state trooper who wrote up the case when our house was broken into last year. He was all excited and apologized about calling so late but...he had heard over his radio that they found some of our stuff. And would we meet him up at the State Police office. Well of course I was excited and we rushed up there. Surely enough there was a bunch of our things. Everthing was moldy, and they put it out on the desk. There were all kinds of pill bottles, mostly antibiotics I hadn't finished. Some of the Christmas decorations that I had in that jewelry box, the broken jewelry box itself, and one of Mom's rings were there! The ring was the nicest one and the thief/thieves must have missed it. Also they had taken our wedding video and pictures. I didn't even know they were missing. There was the bracelet that I had 'borrowed' from my granny for my wedding. And a lot of little things that meant a lot to me but wouldn't to anyone else.

Well the wild part is how it was found. There's a small grocery store about 2 miles from me and one of the owners went up on the roof to fix his satelite. He noticed a pillow case full of stuff up there. He called the police and they found out it was our's by watching the wedding video. Can you imagine?! Why would a thief throw something like that on top of a store roof? Crazy... but you can imagine I'm glad they recovered some of our stuff. I had actually missed that pillow case once when I was changing the bed, but didn't think much of it.

Recovering my Mom's ring means the world to me. I had tears in my eyes when I saw it. The state trooper knew about my mom's passing. He's kept in touch with us ever since the break in. I think he was very pleased that we got some things back. I really appreciate the job he has done for us. Just wanted to share our little news with you all.

That is truly a blessing. At least something was salvaged from such a horrible experience.

Lainey,
So glad they found some of your things and your Mom's ring especially. Funny, my jewelery box was stolen a few years ago and the police found it a few weeks later in a ditch about 10 miles from here. I got a few of my things back too. So glad they found it for you.

I am so happy for you, Lainey. And what a great police officer to be so concerned about your things. Not many around like that. That is strange the way it was found, but couln not have happened to a better person.

I am so glad that your mom's ring was recovered.
Do the police have any leads on how the stuff got on the roof?

Wow Lainey - what an odd place to ditch things, and then that they missed the ring too. Glad you have some things of value to you back!!

I'm so glad you got some of your your things back, How awful you even had to go through that. It was very nice of the police to keep up with your case. Some times they don't get the positive recognition they deserve.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.
