Okay, since I've been a truck driver (OTR) for quite a few years, I've gotten pretty hard-bitten about things. But I've been trying to soften up and have more empathy for others. Hence, my problem now...

We need to sell our 5th wheel before we move to our house. We can take the thing with us but would rather sell it and be done with it. So a friend siad she wanted to buy it and was trying hard to come up with the money. Okay by us. She checked in every day to update us. It was something about SSI money coming in, don't know the whole story.

Okay so then a guy stopped by yesterday and wanted to buy it. No, she had first dibs. Now this goes against everything I've learned as a former horse trader but this is a friend! So the guy leaves and says if she doesn't want it, let him know.

After he left, I hustled over to her house and double checked. She said, are you ready...to sell it as she's now not sure...oh, h*lls bells... So my hubby calls the guy and says he can buy it. That's not exact wording but close. The guys says this morn he'll get right back to us with the money.

You guessed it...nothing so far. So hubby called him and is heading to town to do some chores and took the title with him in case he can meet up with the guy.

I'm frustrated cuz there were some other emails (from Craigslist) about the trailer but hubby wants to find out what the guy is going to do first. I say forget the guy and let me start responding to the emails and maybe one of those will pan out. But he wants the guy to have first dibs again. My hubs doesn't learn very fast sometimes...hehehe...

There you have it. I'm frustrated beyond belief and am sorts resigned that we have to take the bloomin' thing with us and sell it over at the new house. Which is 20 miles out in the country... *sigh*

Will someone please feel sorry for me for our stoopidity?? I need to rememebr that biz is biz and don't let friendships get in the way.

I'm pretty freakin' sure I'll let you guys know how this turns out cuz I sure need some place to vent!!!

Winona, I am a sympathetic person, however, this is business and something you NEED to do. My advise,if you want it, is to start telling everyone and even put it in your ad that it is being sold on a "first one with cash gets it" basis. This way, anyone that wants to kick the tires can do that, but EVERYONE runs the risk of losing it if they don't have "cash in hand". And be leery of checks, maybe you could give a "receipt" which states 5th wheel is sold to John Doe contingent upon check clearing then title will be signed over AFTER that.

Just some thought. Best wishes and God bless on getting it sold.

It gets even better...my hubs was talking to a guy who just WANTED the 5th wheel...but...(can you see this one coming?) he's moving to NY in August. I didn't even get excited when I heard the news. He's a nice guy, we've known him for a while, but he said he has some friends who are looking...oh, yeah, can't wait for their calls! /sarc off/ Actually, he will have to sell his trailer before he goes in August.

My point is, there is always that ONE thing that is wrong and it stops the whole process. Grrrrr!!!

Okay, done for a while again...

You have my sympathy with friends notcoming thru and iffy CRAIGS LIST people driving you crazy. When I was trying to sell my camper a friend told me "I want it, don't sell it to anyone else" I believed her and turned away a few potential buyers and as hoped my friend would come thru she just couldn't get the cash. I've learned that when you sell something big like that you need to take care of your pocketbook and the first one with the cash wins.
I know you will sell it and everything happens for a reason, usually life learning experiences, so I wish you the best and hope soon you'll be happy and smiling with a hunk of cash in your pocket!

Y'know, Heather, I'm beginning to think the same of CL. Like there are lots of tire-kickers on there. My friend is just beside herself trying to find the money and we're trying to help her by breaking it up into payments but we can only do so much. The owner of the park just said if it wasn't for all the taxes he has to pay before the end of the month, he'd have bought it for her...she works part-time for him. There is always something that gums up the works!! As an aside, still haven't heard from the guy and I put the ad back up on CL. I think tmr, I'll put it in the regualr newspaper. *sighing and feeling so down* Haven't heard anything back from the other emails either...

Maybe it's just mine and we're meant to keep the **** thing...

Thanks alot to the replies, I really appreciate them!! ;-)

Winona- don't wait on others to make you happy!! Move on...you will find the right buyer. I have horrible luck with CRAIGSLIST people who want something and never show up or show up with a check instead of cash. I now give them 1 week, if they don't show up, I am onto the next buyer. I can feel that you will find the right person who will apprecaite your RV and your kindness. (((HUGS))

You're a good, honest person and so is your hubby...don't ever change! We need more of people like you not less. There's an essay by Mother Theresa which goes on and on about being good, honest etc even when people don't recognize it or appreciate or worse criticize you for it....but she says "Do it anyway....for it's not about you and them...it's about you and God." I think that pretty well sums it up in my book! Keep up the good work and don't worry about "those other people". You GO Girlfriend!

Sending hugs your way!!! Please don't feel it was because you were nice, in business you try to stick to your word always and you told her she could have it... You were being a good business person, but even then sometimes things turn out topsy turvy! Hang in there and believe in Karma, the good will come back!! I will be crossing my fingers that it works out well and quickly for you so you won't have to worry 'bout it!! All the best and sending lots of hugs for the frustrating time!!!

Hugs,
Talitha
