I have a front glass door that heats up so bad, I can't touch the inside door at all. Is there something like a film that I could put on there that would be removable for when we leave? This will also help lower cooling bills. Thanks. : )

Heather How are you doing? The offer for a lunch is still there. I finished school for this semester today and have a little free time.

Heather, yes, it can be folded for double cover or cut to size. It's really lightweight and can be taken down or put up in seconds. It kind of reminds me of a thin aluminum foil.

I hate to recommend this for a front door but it did wonders for my windows that get the afternoon sun last summer. Aluminum foil. I know tacky to look at. I've heard wonderful things about window tinting too. I don't know how easy it is to take back off though. Good luck!

Heather,

We use a very lightweight emergency thermal blanket on our picture window in the living room. We got our blanket in the camping section at Walmart for about $3.00 or so my husband thinks. But I'm sure it could be found in most stores like that. It almost covers the whole window. It comes folded up in a small package. It lowers the afternoon temperature in our living room by 15 degrees or so. It's very sheer and is a silvery color, looks like a very lightweight foil and is filmy. We just tape it to the top of our window and let it hang down. I'm sure it has lowered our energy bill the past few summers.

What we used for our skylights to help keep the sun out was automotive window tinting film. Make sure you get the darkest shade!
