I've been wondering what I could do with the used twine we cut off the square bales and the round bales. The twine is the orange type. We go through so much of this each year, that it just seems such a waste when we have to throw it out. We couldn't do without it, it's a definite necessity. So I thought you girls who are so creative might have an idea (or several) on how to re-use this. Also, if anyone wants any, let me know before we do the "big clean up" here in a couple weeks of all the twine from this winter.

Someone somewhere had a site or page about how to braid the twine into lead ropes. She was doing a booming biz too.

Good ideas ladies. I especially like the one about the rugs. I might have to try that one.
Kris & MaryBeth I do already use it in the garden, guess I forgot to write that in.
Sharon, I think that would be a good idea also. I'm pretty sure people would stop inviting me to things if I add that to the "wrapping paper" I already use. I use the food ads of the paper for wrapping paper as it is bright and colorful and I usually have a stack of papers by the woodstove anyway. People would probably start a "collection" for me and my family if I finished off my food ad wrapping paper with used twine. LOL I can picture it now LOL.

This winter we had a rag rug Farm chick meeting. Where we learned how to braid rags into cool rugs, crochet style. Well one of the older farm chick's husband got the smart idea of using baling twine instead of rags. It turned out so cool! It was the plastic all different colors, it looks so tough, great for the doorways to the shop or garden. He even used a bicycle-tire-tube-changing-tool so it was easier than the big crochet needles.
anyhow I don't know how ambitious you are but these rugs will sell, especially with the whole "green" movement.
one last thought is to use them as a "web" trellis for beans, peas, etc.

Cindy, I use mine to tie up tomatoes. You could also use it for a trellis for beans and cucumbers and peas. It will last forever. All kinds of garden uses for twine. That's all I do with it. I'd love to hear more ideas, too.
