Hi girls! I so want to be a farmgirl. I've tried making sour dough bread for the last six weeks. Failed. At least I tried. But I digress. I have an urge to go camping, but the only thing that stops me is Thunder and Lightening. My husband and I would camp in a tent. (I truly do love tents) But I fear lightening. I am a christian and I know I should put my fears in Gods hands, but I'm having a hard time with this one.

Any advice?

Love, Londa

What a bunch of great gals you are! So friendly and kindhearted! You have given me great encouragement and strength!

I work outside the home all day so I don't get to get on the site alot, or would talk more.

I did order an apron pattern and knickers from maryjane. Can't wait to start sewing!

Will catch you all later. And God Bless your beautiful hearts!

Love, Londa

You sound like me. I also have a fear of thunder storms. I have been camping for over 20 years, and I have been in only 2 severe storms while camping. I just got in the car until it was over. It wasn't as bad as I let myself believe it would be.
You can do it. Don't let fear ruin it for you, you will have a blast!

I agree - don't let fears hold you back. Watch the weather and just go! You'll have a great time.

Welcome to the board!

Londa- I would recommend pulling up a weather forecast sometime later in the week, like say Thursday. Go on a weekend when it is supposed to be dry and sunny all weekend. Fears can be pretty irrational, and everyone has their own private fears. It's okay! Maybe as you are out and about in nature more you might find yourself getting more comfortable with the idea of thuder and lightning. If not- that's okay too! One of the best ways I can think of is just avoiding the situation where you could be ruining your weekend with fears. Summer is great for having lots of sunny weekends!

Welcome to the forum!

Londa,
You can do this. Don't put your tent up in the middle of a flat open field in a thunderstorm and you'll be fine. If it does happen to rain and start to thunder go sleep in your car. Ooh and here's a thought, if you are really afraid of lightening, make a lightening rod and groound it maybe ten feet from your tent. The lightening would go for it first. But then these are all negative thought, and you want to have fun. Just focus of a delightful time sleeping under the stars after a delicious skillet on an open fire dinner and enjoy enjoy enjoy. Keep us posted.

Hi Londa,
First off I would say, "YOU ARE A FARMGIRL". We define that here as "A condition of the heart"... seems your heart is in that condition. I would also encourage you to join the sisterhood as we have a lot of farmgirl activities... I am posting the "join the sisterood info as well as the list of farmgirls activities you can find there......
