Ok..so I found out yesterday that the reason I have been SOOOO sick and tired is I have Mono. I am really worried because I am all by myself with Charlie and I just don't have the energy to deal with everthing. Charlie is being a good boy and I do most of my college work in my bed, laying down. I haven't eaten a lot of food, mostly liquids and some fruit. The occasinal Laughing Cow cheese tastes good. Even running to get groceries required a 3 hour nap after I was done and I don't nap much. Anywho, I have what I thought was a friend, who has been calling me and coming over when I am not here to basically get the gossip. Haven't heard from her in 3 months and honestly, life has been so busy, I haven't had the time. I emailed her that life was crazy and I was really sick. Now, you must understand, this is the woman that told Scott when he left on deployment she would bend over backwards to help me out and never did. So I kinda avoid her. She emailed me back and told me "Well good luck with that..." and then babbled on about how wonderful her life is and blah blah blah. UMMM>>> I NEVER ask for help but if someone is basically a single parent and sick with MONO wouldn't you at least offer to help? Ask if they need something? I am not a pity party person but I am SO sick right now and I don't know how I am going to do this. I just was so angry and I don't have room in my life for people like this. I am moving on but it just irks me. I got enough of the pretend it doesn't exist and do not participate from my family to last me a life time.

I loved the movies...I actually watched 'Chasing Liberty" the other day on the Family channel. I loved it and now I have it on DVD. YEAH!!!

Resting a lot..mostly with my laptop on top of me and watching Gilmore Girls. YEAH!!!

Heather,
I am glad you got the package! Sorry to hear your not feeling much better. I hope you enjoy the tea (glad you like the biscotti) and the movies, so wierd picking out movies for someone and not knowing what they like. . .I figured it is better than trashy tv. lol
Well you take care of yourself and Charlie.
Rest. Rest. Rest. is your word for the week. Is your DH gonna be able to take some time off to come help you heal? I am sure seeing him would do miracles for y'all.
I will pray he surprises you (maybe you should forward him this thread)
sometimes men need hints. lots of them.
anyhow,
tons of love and hugs and hope you feel better,
h

I am getting my BS in Health Information Management at TX State in San Marcos. 99% of it was done online, so it was awesome. I am thinking of going to Midwestern State U. in Wichita Falls, to get my Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Health Administration. I LOVE healthcare...like more than a normal person should!!! : )

I found yesterday I have a bacterial infection to go along with MONO and treating one over the other is hard because antibiotics can worsen MONO. So we are proceeding with a lot of caution. Just another day!!! : )

That is awesome! I SO want to go back to school and finish my degree! I took a semester off 16 years ago and then never went back. I had baby #1, then #2, then #3 plus working so I just didn't.... but now I really want to! What are you getting your degree in? Are you doing online classes or is there a school by you? In fact I was just about to check out some school (unfortunately online only since there are no schools nearby... I loved that college atmosphere you were talking about!) info but I thought I would check the forum first! Glad you are doing better! Congrats on getting through school! I am sure this semester has been hard with being sick and having a little one too!

Hugs!

I agree about the value of education. I think we need to continue to learn our whole lifetime. I find that the folks who remain vital into old age continue to do new things no matter what their ages. I think when people get stuck in routines without exploring anything new life becomes a habit instead of a glorious adventure. There is nothing I like better than to learn a new skill.

Ha...are you ready for this...work and grad school!!! : ) Yes, I love to torture myself. : )

I have waited SO long to go to college. Before I joined the military, I worked in a doc's office and I would take my morning run through a local college just to absorb the feel. I made a promise that I would get to college someday and the military made that happen. I think education of any kind is so important in the developement of a person whether it is a HIM course like I am taking or learning to knit, it stimulates the mind, fosters community and self awareness and confidence and has many great teaching lessons as well. Ok..off my soap box... : )

You are all invited to my graduation!!!

Now that is determination in my book. I don't know how you did it. It's no wonder you are tired even without Mono you would be. Just know that we are all pulling for you - we know you will be successful. What are your plans after graduation?

Yes, I am VERY tired. I have done 4 years of work in 3 years, all with a newborn/toddler in the house. Graduating is a HUGE deal to me. : )

Isn't the last part a drag? When I was in college it seemed that the last quarter just drug on and I had to fight with myself to get through it. I guess I was just tired of school at that point. Good luck with it - I know how much work it is. I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors.

Heather-
I forgot to mention that you may want to be taking garlic pills. The garlic will help boost your immune system during this time. It seemed to help me once I started taking it during my bout with mono. SOunds like you are eating well and getting good nutrition, that is great! I just wish you had some help!

Yes, I told her mostly I would need her if I had to go to the ER because I was too sick. She is just another person who says one thing to look good in front of other but takes no action. It's ok..what goes around comes around. If anything, my eating has been impeccable. We just finished some fish, brown rice and roasted asparagus. YUMMY!!! Small little healthy meals seem to be helping. That and lots of water substituted with V-8 Splash. I also am taking a B vitamin with C in in. Thank goodness for afternoon naps. 3 hours was marvelous!! : )

I never had that Thank-the Lord. Did you come right out and ask your so called friend if she would take Charlie for an afternoon or and night and tell her you really need a break. Some people don't get it and need to be told how to be a good friend. I'll pray for you to feel better, and for your family to be safe and together soon.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

I am so sorry to hear you have mono! I, too, had it two years ago when I had a three year old and 19 month old who was still nursing. It was rough and made even rougher because when I went to the doctor they first said strep throat and sent me home with antibiotics, which is a big no-no when you have mono. I broke out in what is called a mono rash (due to the antibiotics) and my whole body was covered in a red rash from head to foot. It itched like crazy and stayed there for over a month. Ugh!
I am surrounded by family but when I had mono I had zero help except for hubby in the evenings and on weekends. No one dropped a meal off (except for one aunt who found out several weeks later and dropped something off), no one offered to watch the kids. I couldn't eat much because my throat hurt and my glands were so swollen. I was so tired and didn't even grocery shop. It was a rough several weeks. I can't even imagine doing it alone, at least I had my hubby a few hours a day. If I was close by I would be dropping off meals and taking Charlie for an afternoon or two.
I can totally understand your frustration about your friend. Is she dense and just needs someone to come out and ask for help? I feel resentment over none of my family helping out but now wish I had just asked my mom to take the kids for a day or drop a meal off. I guess my thought was why should I have to ask, they should just know.
I hope you start to feel better soon.
