Posted - Apr 17 2009 : 02:58:04 AM I cried too. I have heard the song many many times before, but seeing her (and hearing ofcourse) made me cry again. Reading and listening to the lyrics made me think about the dreams in my life that never came through, marriage, kiddies, a happy life etc. I wish her all the happiness in life and maybe someday that dream of hers (and mine) will come true.
Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

Posted - Apr 17 2009 : 12:34:35 AM I think these things happen as a lesson to everyone to lose our preconceived ideas and assumptions. I believe that we as society are finally beginning to wake up again to the fact that all people have value. I too cried when I first saw the story on the evening news. I hope she finds her prince charming and has a great career but not to show those who treated her poorly. She's already taught the lesson, but to just get to enjoy the blessings and adulation her gift will bring to her. Sometimes it's difficult in the face of such criticism to know your worth but in her case she shines. A good lesson to all indeed.

Posted - Apr 16 2009 : 06:54:46 AM Poor, sweet, wonderful dear! I guess she's showed all those folks who teased her then, hasn't she. When I was a child and wondered about people with special needs, my mother told me that people with special needs were given certain gifts and talents by God to bless them in other ways. I certainly think that's true in many cases.
She does seem spunky....as Pattie Lupone told her this morning, "You got PLUCK, girl!" |

Posted - Apr 16 2009 : 06:16:54 AM Yes, Jonni. I was reading an interview with her. When she was being born, she was deprived of oxygen and it was an emergency C-Section. She was horribly teased in public school and turned to music as her solace. One of the articles says she has already been contacted with a recording deal! How wonderful is that?
I would love to meet her! She seems so spunky and funny!

Posted - Apr 16 2009 : 05:40:56 AM She was on the morning show singing from her living room. And, they had Patti Lupone (the originator voice of the song) speaking to her via satellite--Patti said she cried when she and her husband watched the program when it aired. Last night, she was on the evening programs and I looked around at my husband whose eyes were totally moist with tears. Apparently, she's somewhat learning disabled, the youngest of 9 children and spent the last few years taking care of her ailing mother who passed about a year ago. Folks from her town in Scotland just rave about her!
Very dear, indeed. |

Posted - Apr 15 2009 : 1:26:22 PM I was amazed at how the little girls in the audience gawking at her sure turned their attitudes around. She is so fantastic. And that smile on Simon's face! Especially after the way he first looked at her. It reminds me of Paul Potts who was on the same show a year or two ago and is also amazing. I will be listening to both of them for quite some time.

Posted - Apr 14 2009 : 12:48:40 PM Here are the Lyrics(Thanks to NewHotdox) -
I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life woth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used And wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung No wine untasted.
But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they tear your hope apart As they turn your dream to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me That we will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms We cannot weather...
I had a dream my life would be So different form this hell I'm living so different now from what it seemed Now life has killed The dream I dreamed.
