I am hostessing a baby shower for my niece, our god daughter. I'm planning on 65 people. Thankfully, we are having it at our rural community hall. The menu is all planned.
I just need help with table centerpieces and favors. I'm just not getting any creative inspiration these days. You are all such a resourceful bunch of Farmgirls, I'm hoping you'll share your ideas with me. I would like to make something simple, yet nice.
"Baby" is the theme and baby colors.

I would so appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks a bunch

Christine

So many great ideas. I've jotted them all down as the next generation of our family is coming along. I checked out the links shared and they offer some neat ideas, too.
I made little diaper nut/mint cups. My DD just finished gluing on the diaper pins. They are so cute. The centerpieces needed to be simple - some family things needed some attention. I purchased 10 or 12 different baby necessities - powder, lotion, bath wash, bottle brush, etc. I got a helium tank and balloons and we'll tie balloons onto the baby items. I think - I hope - they'll look cute. My thoughts were that we would have some color with the balloons and the new baby would have a basket of goodies.

I do appreciate all your great ideas and the inspiration.
Thanks a bunch!

You know as I'm typing this I remembered what I forgot to add to my list this morning. I wanted to order a baby corsage for the new mom and grandmas. I still have time tomorow.

When we had a shower for my daughter-in-law, we got about 30 newbie t-shirts, shorts, pants etc. and strung a clothesline around the room and hung them all up with little booties and socks hanging between them...it was so cute and she got to take the outfits home after the party. Instead of balloons, we inflated big punch balls and they were so cute also!

Hi Christine.. While looking for a craft idea for you I found this site. this is also the craft i was looking for. It is a craft to make a receiving blanket baby. All of the items can be used for the mom after the shower. This site has lots of games & other things on it as well. http://www.babyshowerscentral.com/blanketbaby.shtml

I made these for a friend & also found a basket in the shape of a buggy w/o the wheels to put it in. I cant find a page w/a photo for these.

Diaper cakes are really cute, there is one on my blog from my daughter's shower in March. Someone's mom makes them on here and does a lovely job also.

The center pieces could actually be gifts for the baby and mother- like one could have a diaper cake, another could have little baby outfits made out of baby clothes, things like that.

We did a little "Bun in the Oven" Theme for my youngest daughter. The invites had a oven on them and we went wild with the theme from there. The favors were little brown bags with muffin mix with muffin mix inside ( enough for two muffins). The center pieces were tiered plates with bakery treats and with a little sign that said. " We are waiting for our little bun in the oven to arrive. Timer set to go off on July 14, 2008".

For the Baby theme you can take baby bottles and fill them with candies for give aways. Cute and simple

I have taken tree branches sprayed the white and tied pacifiers, rattles, ect to them for center pieces.

Another cute idea for baby is to simply take empty boxes and "wrap" them with recieving blankets, baby printed material or baby print wrapping paper and put big bows on them. These are adorable for center pieces and inexpensive.

We did small diaper cakes for center pieces one time too.

3 of our children have blessed us with 4 grand kids in 3 years so I am doing a lot of baby showers...............

live well,

How Fun! I have 4 games that are a lot of fun.

#1 Get a list of words like, baby, momma, love, family. Then hand each table a copy of the list and they have a limited time, guessing as many songs as they can, that contain "the word", for each word. Then at the end of the game the table with the most songs has to read/sing their list.

#2 Get some rolls of toilet paper and give a roll to each table. Each woman is to unroll however much they think it will take to wrap around the pregnant momma once. The closest to the actual size wins.

#3 Buy infant diapers and stuff them in the largest clear bag or clear container. Then set it on the beverage or cake table asking people to guess how many is in the container. The closest guess wins.

#4 Get a bunch of clothes pins. Every table gets one. And whoever says the words BABY has to wear the clothes pin. At the end of the party call all the pin wearers to the front and they all have to surround the pregnant momma and take turns telling her how they know she will be a great mom.

As for center pieces I would get some potted flowers, sprinkle sparkles on them and wrap the pot in tissue and ribbon. These make great party favors for the guests and winners of the games. All the props go to the expecting momma, like the diapers, clothes pins, extra flowers, etc.

Hope that helps. Have fun!
Best,
h

Let's see...I just had all my baby showers in January and February...what did folks do for me? I had 3 showers, each as different as the next. Our daughter's name is Violet, so my mil's had African Violets on each table, in groups with moss and little mushroom birds, and everyone attending got to take one home.

My other shower had pretty "violet" colored bowls full of pink hershey's kisses that said, "It's a girl!" on the little paper "pull".

Do you know if it's a boy or girl? Or the name? Since it's springtime, you can do so much with cut flowers--you could even do some pink, "blue" and yellow flowers with baby's breath--rather inexpensive, and "baby".
