Oh gals, I had a wonderful time visiting with Bayoubunch / Lori
this morning!!

She's from Louisiana and I live in the Houston area. I grew up in Louisiana and we have some common knowledge of culture and cities in the area. We had been chatting about the weather down here on another thread and she mentioned she'd be in the Houston area. Well, she was staying in a hotel not even 10 minutes from my home!!!!

I was so excited.....my family was happy that I was going to actually meet a MJ Farmgirl! I arrived at her hotel door and knocked.......oh the anticipaion.....what would she look like? would she like me? would we have things to talk about?

She cracked the door slightly and peered out in a "safety mode" type way.....making sure I wasn't a bad guy....when she saw it was me the door was opened wide and hellos and hugs and friendship were thick in the air. I handed her the large coke I had brought, placed my large cafe' mocha on the table and in true farmgirl fashion we each had a little giftie for each other.

That all began around 8:30 a.m. and two hours later we were sisters, friends and future shopping buddies. We could have kept talking all day but I had to leave to run errands. Oh, I look so forward to seeing her again.

I also felt like I got to know some of you a bit better, too. Lori showed me some mail art from Meadowlark, Bramble, and Mollymae. It was like touching a piece of your hearts. I rejoiced and said, "Oh, I just sent Mollymae her sourdough starter" It felt like such a connection.

Well, gals.....Lori is incredible. I don't know how much she has ever shared with y'all but, like all of you, she has many talents and interests. She's an artist with her works in local galleries. She does every type of handwork. Her beaded jewelry has won awards. She has a husband that treats her like a queen. He served in the Vietnam war and two of her grown kids have served in Desert Storm and recently returned from Iraq. The whole family...kids and grandkids live together in a huge home that she calls the "ark". They have lived all over the U.S. and she loves us southerners!! But, mountains are her heart and she'd like to possible live in Arkansas one day surrounded by the mountains.

Despite our different seasons of life.....I'm 38 and a mother of a 13 and 10 yr old.....Lori is a grandmother with another one on the way.....we were definitely woven together in the farmgirl spirit but especially by our love for the Lord. It is so awesome to hear how God touches and guides everyone's lives.

I can't wait for her to return to the area. I've already told her all the places we have to go. Gosh, her husband better keep being sent over this way for his job....we've gonna need a lot of girlie days.

This was so great! Thanks to MaryJane and all who work on this forum. It's your efforts that made it possible for me to make a new dear sweet friend.

Blessings
Catherine

You gals are gonna have so much fun seeing each other.

Blessings
Catherine

P.S. Lori / bayoubunch....make sure to call next time y'all are in town!

Annie, Olga will love our critters, too. Fritz is our dog and we have two Siamese boys, Topo Grigio and Keiko, and a Siamese kitten, Chloe. They all love people. Does anyone have dietary concerns? Did you get my card yet? Can't wait to see the baby!! Tell me the date again and I'll put it on the calendar. Maybe you can call me from Jenny's when you're about to leave so I'll know when to expect you. Woo hoo! Fire up the stove, Stuie. Company's coming!

Happy Wishes!

Jenny, what's this about a calf? Did Mona have her baby? Where was I? How come nobody told me I'm an auntie? I've got presents to give already!!

Happy Wishes!

Oh, my! You girls are wonderfully generous.

Jenny, would you mind our two little doggies? (They have a kennel to sleep in.) Oh, this sounds just wonderful! I would love to meet Mona and her wee calf, and I know Olga will go ga-ga over the critters. She looooves animals.

Patricia, lunch sounds wonderful. Oh, what a fun trip this will be. Who knew moving interstate could be so fun!

You guys are sure welcome here..it is off the beaten path (if you consider I-15 a path) a little...but you are sure welcome here. We have a family room/guest room with hide a bed couch and would love to have you guys. Manti is on 89 about 50 minutes north of Richfield. You can get back on the 15 at Nephi...45 min north of here and then it is only 45 more minutes to Provo. I would understand if you want to stay on the 15, and if so I will come to meet you somewhere for sure..but I want you to know you are more than welcome here!!! Mona would love to meet you too!!

Sounds wonderful! I'm not sure what time we'll be coming thru SLC. Probably late morning-noon-ish, as I suspect we'll stay the night somewhere in central UT. Can't wait!

LOL, Patricia! I'm sure it'll get here some day. I'd forgotten about it in the hustle and bustle of recent days.

DH's last day of work is March 17th, but we don't want to drive thru Las Vegas on St. Paddy's day (I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid). So depending on how far we get with this new baby, it will either be the 18th evening-ish, or the 19th morning-ish. We are so ready to get outta Dodge.

Me too, Annie! Let us know what would be easiest for you.

Catherine, Jenny and I met in Provo, which is about halfway between our homes. We met at a mall where my son and daughter work and had lunch there, the four of us. Jenny brought me goodies she had canned and I brought her Snackeesacks and small gifts for her kids. It was in September or October I believe. It was just like seeing a long-lost sister. We have photos posted somewhere here.

By the way, heh heh funny story...I sent the package of corderoy to Catherine instead of to Annie...Catherine said she'd send it on to you, Annie. Sometimes my elevator doesn't go up to the Penthouse.

Happy Wishes!

What fun! Jenny and Patricia, we are getting ready to move back "home" to Oregon in March, but we are going to take the (very) long way, and drive up thru Utah, then across Idaho and finally to the Oregon coast. It will be a big loop. But maybe we can meet along the way. :)

Hey Jenny, don't forget when we go to the farm in July! We'll get to meet everybody then. It was so awesome meeting Jenny for lunch. We exchanged goodies, too. I also got to meet Tatania and her daughters when she came to SLC for a Conference. Woo hoo! We had a great time, too. More exchange of goodies. It's the farmgirl way. We're all so connected as though the miles doesn't exist.

Happy Wishes!
