I didn't know where else to post this, and Across the Fence kind of covers everything and everyone.

Does anyone know what is out there to get rid of the crankies? I don't mean meds persay.
What do you do to get rid of the crankies??
hugs

I spent all day yesterday giving the house a good scrub down. I have the bathroom left today as I was tired out before I was done..lol..the good tired that leaves you feeling satisfied of a job well done and pure exhaustion...lol
My DH laughs at me. He said he knew it would take some serious elbow grease to work out whatever my problem was. I'm off to clean the bathroom and sew sew sew...the idle mind is the devil's playground!

Heather's got a good point. I work for some counselors, and I can't tell you how many times they advise one of their clients to 'clean out their car, complete with vacuuming, washing and waxing' or 'clean a room in the house, including cabinets, baseboards, spiderwebs, linens...every square inch'. The thought behind this is, it takes physical effort to do that much cleaning, and once your through, you can stand back and see a real accomplishment. I've taken their advice, and it does help, but personally, I prefer to play hooky from chores and go to the pond and feed the fish and ducks, sit on our prayer bench and count my blessings, or just walk around the property with my dogs, pet my cows, watch my chickens. For those farm girls who live in the city, try going to a park, or walking around the block.

from the hearts of paradise...

Choclate chip cookies work for me. Especially homemade ones and the raw dough is the best. (I don't think it's good for you but I like the raw dough more than the cookie.)

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

I have noticed how some months are worse than others.

A good laugh and being around jovial people helps lighten the mood.

And of course good 'ole heart pounding exercise will work just about anything out.

The exhaustion superceeds any remnants of bad feeling that may linger

I usually watch Extreme Makeover. Cheesy but it works for me. By the end of it, I'm bawling and thinking that there are people out there making a difference. That in itself rids of crankies. Another thing you can do is....ahem.... woo your hubby. Can't be cranky when there's hanky panky!!

I just keep repeating, "This too shall pass". Something, sometimes worse, usually comes to take IT's place. This weather, (not really spring yet) is enough to make anyone crankie. Me too!

You know Sheila, that is a wonderful idea! I think I'll do the same.

I take a cup of freshly brewed tea into my quiet place and be still for a while. Praying for others always lifts my spirits. I can also recommend a long, leisurely walk!

St. John's Wort works really well for me. I also try to do things that I like to help lighten my mood, such as reading, listening to music or watching a gardening show. If the weather behaves, a long walk is my favorite mood lifter. I hope everyone is feeling cheery today!

I have heard that St.Johns wort can interfere with birth control pills. Just so ya know,..
Marybeth Posted - Apr 05 2009 : 8:17:32 PM
Jessie, St. Johns wort isn't habit forming that i know of but it affects people differently. Some people get a rash and some just don't feel good and then for some it does what it is supposed to do. A B-complex might work better---and it will turn your urine yellow. Keep your house brightly lit and pray the sun will shine again.
Good luck. The crankies are the meanies for sure. MB

This is not for everybody I realize,..but when I am cranky or PMS I like to get on the backhoe and "hurt some dirt"! I swear I should rent that thing out by the hour!

Anyhoo,

sunshine sounds good.:) We are supposed to have rain the next couple of days, but Im sure it will show up eventually.

I cant perty myself up with makeup. I am having a skin issue right now. My face is all broke out and blotchy. Allergies and stress I guess..lol

Enchanting your hair...I like that ;) I call it going summer when I color it blonde.:) I might have to give that one a try. I got mine cut thinking it would be a good thing, and I can't figure out how to so much as style it. It just sits there and I just sit here hoping it will grow out fast so I know what to do to it..;)

Alee---is St Johns Wort habit forming? I have heard it is a good mood booster before, but wasn't sure about using it.

Thanks girls!

hugs

I get really cranky when my world is in disorder, so I like to put the house in order and clean. Also, get out in the BIG Texas sun helps too. I also find that making myself perty makes me feel a lot better. Tomorrow, I am "enhancing" my hair to blonde just because.

Good question Jessie, I'd like to know too. This has been my cranky day today due to hormones I guess. It's been one of those days where nothing seems to go right, and one of those days that I call my 'chocolate days'. Although I know I'm just letting things get to me, it's probably been just an ordinary day. But I have an overall feeling of ickyness, just don't feel comfortable in my own skin.

Hugs to you too!
