Just curious what y'all do for your hubbies on Valentines. My DH is redneck ALL the way so it's hard to get him something but I want to do something for him to show how much I love him and appreciate all that he does for us. We normally don't do much for each other on this day other than going out to dinner so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Those are some great ideas ladies. Bobbi, you crack me up. I'd stay away from mine too if it involved another kid--No thank you, I'm done . I'll probably end up making him one of his favorite foods and I'll check out the dollar store and see about the chocolate trout. He loves fishing!!!

oh yes .. and 'love coupon' books! for years, we've made love coupon books for each other (the girls even got in on this too when they lived at home).

for HIM: use red poster board or construction paper .. insert white heavy paper between the red sheets .. decorate each page with valentine stickers or little red punched hearts (you can get the punches at your local crafts store) and on each page write things like: good for one romantic back-rub .. a midnight picnic .. dinner and movie of your choice .. control of the tv clicker for one full-week .. help with a farm chore (your choice!) .. hugs and kisses on request .. your choice of a favorite book .. your choice of a favorite CD .. a meal of all your favorite dishes .. a plate of warm cookies right from the oven .. a foot massage .. a romantic bath or shower together .. a get-away together weekend .. the coupons can go on and on .. just think of things that would be really special that he would love!

I was a city girl when dh & I married, and one thing that really amazed me was that he owned over 20 flannel shirts! He had tons of blue and blue/red ones, and I just couldn't figure out why one person needed so many that looked so similar. We got married in September, and I tried for several months to weed out some of his more worn flannel shirts, but he was really attached to them.

On our first Valentine's Day after we were married, as a sort of "in" joke, I bought him a flannel shirt that was primarily red. Every year since then I've found another flannel shirt that's primarily red. Some of them have since moved on the rag bag, but he presently has about 6 years worth hanging in his closet! That man loves his flannel shirts

And yes, I've already found this years -- it's lined and is really nice.

Some people search for happiness; others create it.

If you use the heart shaped ones and put them all over his bathroom mirror, or somewhere just for him it is called giving him a "heart attack" and you can get the kids involved.
This year I am getting my husband a replacement wedding band. Ours are silver and not expensive. They say ETERNITY around them over and over. He is on his third one..luckily it wasn't an expensive one..he has no idea I am getting it for him since after the last one he lost I said never again..heehee.

Bobbi...I love it!

How about an 'I dig farmgirls' hat?

I like to make my hubby, Lucas, his favorite dinner (which keeps changing ) and his favorite dessert (german chocolate cake, the kind that comes in the box). Perfectly easy and the only time, besides his birthday, that he gets such a thing. I also like to make something homemade and extra cheesy. Our first valentines, I made a little decorated jar (covered in hearts) with a hundred little pieces of paper (red, pink and white of course) with a hundred reasons why I love him. In the end it was more for me than him, because it was such fun to think of actually one hundred reasons why I love him. Another old stand-by with my family is post-it notes all over the house with little love notes. It's fun to put them in good hiding places so it takes days (even months) for him to find them all. They even have really cheesy heart shaped post-its at Staples.

Lonestargal, does your town have a dollar tree store? They have these silly solid chocolate trouts for the fishermen in your life there. Only a buck, but they are a nice gift for a sportsman with a sweet tooth.

I'm just giving mine a chocolate heart and a card and then staying as far away from him as I can.. I have a 1 and 2 year old who were a direct result of the romance of February two years in a row. :)

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.
