I just posted a picture of this book. Do you remember it? It came out in 1999, and was written by Rory Kennedy. Then it was made into a PBS SPECIAL. I got it out today to read again.

I can relate to this book
as I grew up in "The Hollower" until I was in the second grade.
In a 4 room cabin.

Did you check out the 20/20 documentary on the children of the mountains? Just sorta kinda reminded me of that.

I love this subject matter, and read all I can get about Appalachia. Thanks for sharing, I think I will hunt down a copy too.

Cheapest one was used at 33.00. Highest ones were autographed by the author at 75-99$. It must be highly collectible. I shoulnd't have, but I ordered the cheapest. I love books like this.

I checked on Amazon, the price of this book never did go down much. Sometimes you can get a real good deal on used ones. Guess not on this one.
