I decided to clean a lil and realized/found that we have WAY TOO many blankety blank kitchen towels, washcloths, pot holders.....

I am still in SHOCK as to how many we had. I am getting rid of a laundry basket FULL of them. WTHeck does one need that many for. I'm sorry we do NOT cook that often here and even if we did we still have enough to go through PLENTY in a day. OY!!!! This is what drives me INSANE. Too much stuff and we don't use it all. Most are in good shape a few have some stains. I wish I could ship them to a country in need so the women at least would have these to use...

lol...Ive got lots of bath towels, but kitchen towels and dishcloths are another story. They seem to keep getting lost....somewhere....
I have been making my own dishcloths for a while, but I shred them with a knife by accident or something else weird happens to them. I go through bathroom washcloths alot because once they are all clean and stacked, Hubby can't resist using those for doing dishes...ugh!!
men...sheesh...lol!

Melanie, I'm with you-- never enough towels (both kithcen AND bath). I used to have TONS of those things, but then I went and had a couple of BOYS.

I'm down to a few ratty bath towels (though I DO have tons of washcloths 'cause I HIDE them!) and all my kitchen towels are ugly and stained. (I keep a small stash of nice ones for when company comes) But those bath towels... ugh!!! I don't DARE buy anymore right now because I will just find them later in the barn and in the shop covering a "Precious" auto part (like an engine or transmission) or hopelessly covered in motor oil because somebody needed a GREASE RAG .... sigh.... When you're the only girl in a house full of MEN, you can't expect to have nice towels... or ANYTHING else for that matter!!!! again I say .... sigh .....

Debbie, I need to get that book. I may not have any TOWELS in my house, but I got LOTS of other crap!!!

I too have lots of dish towels and wash clothes. But I love them all! I have so much they won't fit into the drawer. I have a wire basket on the counter that's much easier to access. I bought a bunch of the old cotton dish towels at a church yard sale and they are just the perfect size. And I love old stuff. I have a thing for big thick bath wash clothes, too. I hate the little thin ones. And big ole fluffy thick towels to go all the way around me. SO I have lots of those, too. But you always need lots of dish clothes, don't you?

Bridget.....I am reading the book, "Clutter's Last Stand" and I love it. Although I'm a usually clutter free kinda gal, I'm amazed how this books looks into the reasons we all accumulate WAY TOO MUCH STUFF! It's even encouraging me to downsize even more!

Hehhehe I am the total opposite. Well I have enough pot holders, but hardly had any kitchen towels and washcloths for the longest time. I told my sister that that was what I wanted for Christmas, but she didn't think that was a very good Christmasy kind of gift. So anyways I finally found some on clearance a couple of months ago and now I have plenty. Well at least till they disappear again.
