There's no point to these quizzes I do sometimes. It's just a way for everyone to get to know each other better, and to have some fun. Copy and paste in your response box, and answer away. Have at it!

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of?

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever?

4. Who are your pets right now?

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site?

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want.

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day.

8. Do you collect anything?

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be?

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Girls,
How about a site about collections, we all have them, and it would be interesting to find out how we display them ,use them, sell them, trade them. What we come up with at garage sales and estate sales or someones castoffs. Since its to early for garage sales here, I went to a thrift shop this morning, I bought a wicker shelf for the bathroom, 2 dollars, whole bag of brand new yarn. 2 dollars, and a really cute picture frame that I put an old valentine in and put on that new wicker shelf along with a plant and an old pink glass vanity set that I already had. My daughter and I are going to another shop next week. Now Iam looking for old pink transfer ware dishes and of course whatever else hits me as something I have to have.

1. My kids....sounds corny but true. They are incredible people.
2. Do more yoga and work on the weight issue.
3. I want to travel more. I very much want to go back to Scotland.
4. One very hyperactive Chow-Shepherd by the name of Cubbie. She's beautiful and nuts but we love her anyway. One very big, very old dog that belonged to my DH's brother. He's 14 or 15 and they promised me he wouldn't live very long. It's going on 3 years now, he's healthy as a horse and he's never had it so good! And last but not least is Hannah the really cranky Blue Point Siamese cat who hates the dogs. She still hasn't figured out that they're here to stay.
5. The best thing about this site is the sharing and caring 'farmgirls' who abide here.
6. With my magic wand I would have a log home on 5-10 acres and enough room for DH's shop and all of his paraphenalia, a greenhouse, herb and flower gardens....you get the idea.
7. A perfect day for me is any day I can not go to work, sleep in, work in my garden, read, knit and/or quilt, and spend time with my friends.
8. I collect Hall teapots and pottery, Roseville pottery, old tins, old linens, and old books-mostly children's.
9. My SO? Well....he's a champion worrier. He worries about things that will NEVER happen. And he's a work-a-holic. He needs a vacation.
10. Holiday? If I have to choose just one it would be Halloween. It's my favorite to decorate for anyway.

Thanks for letting me share,
Marcia

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of? Starting my business. I get to be creative in so many ways!

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would sleep at night. Every night.

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever? "Want" to do as opposed to "will do"? Well, I "want" to earn a certificate in nutrition counseling. I don't really know what I "will" do next.

4. Who are your pets right now? Scottie and Cissy. Scottie's a 14 year old border collie/shizhu mix, and Cissy is an Australian Shepherd - 12 years old. Loony as they come...

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site? You wonderful women make me laugh. You enjoy life so much and when you're down, you start looking for the way out. It's great!

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want. Everything! Now, that's an awful thing to say because I have a beautiful house, but I would just do everything differently, if I could. The house was my husband's from his first marriage, so I didn't have anything to do with buying or decorating. We have gotten some new furniture, but even that I'd do differently. In fact, I'd get an entirely different house!

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day. I would have slept the night before. I would get to fix my favorite breakfast, spend some time baking or canning, and play with my husband, kids and grandkids.

8. Do you collect anything? Science Fiction books!

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be? That's a tough one. He's really sweet and nearly perfect. Let's see - it would be nice if he also liked the idea of farming and growing organic food and having some goats and chickens. He doesn't care if I grow the food, but the rest is "NO WAY!"

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why? Halloween. I'm a witch at heart.
greyghost Posted - Jan 26 2006 : 07:53:40 AM
Hey this is fun!

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of?
ummm... well a beaded bottle, a bright orange safety vest for my dog Cookie... but my fave is a skirt I made two years ago - lined and trimmed, cut on the bias, wool plaid skirt with ALL of the plaid matching up on the seams.

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
to be better a phone calls. I HATE leaving messages, I sound like a dork.

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever?
A brown pair of slacks. But I have to find "the" right slack pattern first.

4. Who are your pets right now?
Stuie, pit/? mix, 4 yrs. Cookie, shepherd mix, 2 yrs. Skye, parakeet, 7 years

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site?
Meeting so many inspiring people! I get so many cool ideas off this site, and learn so much about organics, gardening, healthy farm-like life - it's like a few minutes of peace when I visit here. It's a great community, we all help each other back up when we feel down (that means a lot).

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want.

More land, and I want the remodeling to be OVER. lol.

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day.

Waking at daybreak, sunny day, going for a walk through my garden & picking tomatoes and such. A nice breakfast with hashbrowns, then a walk in the woods with my girls (the dogs). Coming home for a lunch of fresh tomato, basil & onion sauce poured over home-made pasta. Going to a flea market or antiquing after lunch, a short nap after that... then making a nice dinner, reading a book, and falling asleep with the moonlight falling on my face through the window.

8. Do you collect anything?
Vintage linens, most kinds of antiques if they fit my decor, green sandwich glass.

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be?
Stop being so unbelievably depressing! lol.

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Christmas, and Halloween. I never celebrated Halloween much as a kid, then I started volunteering for a state park's haunted woods walk with my uncle-in-law. It was SO FUN! I learned so much on how to scare the bejeebers out of people. Unfortunately, nobody in our new area seems to bother much... I may have to stir something up in a few years, surely the state park down the street could make some good money through something like that too!

Besides, I'd have to go with the snake because as far as I know Washingtons laws would prohibit Rosie and I from getting a marraige license on the grounds that she's female...

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of?
An apple pie from scratch. I was so darn pleased with myself because I'm just terrible at rolling out the crust!

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My tendency to procrastinate. It is the bane of my existence! I'll get around to changing some day...

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever?
Bake bread. Crochet some hand puppets. Create some bead and wire creatures. Write some letters. Plan the garden.

4. Who are your pets right now?
One medium-haired black and white SPCA rescue I've named Marlowe. Just love him!

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site?
Hearing the voices behind the posts: everyone's personalities just shine through. And I know that if I ever have a question, I know just where I'll always get an answer!

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want.
I would love a little two storey brick house with a large backyard with a few fruit trees and the property backs onto a wooded lot with a stream running through it.

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day.
I'd wake up knowing that I don't need to be any where in particular, and snooze for a while longer. I'd get up, find some comfy clothes and have a bit of breakfast, probably an omelette with chai tea and some nice fresh fruit. It would be sunny, but not hot. There is a light breeze, but not enough to ruffle the pages of the book I'd be reading under a tree in the park. I'd be content just experiencing the day go by...

8. Do you collect anything?
Insects. Both the real thing and anything bug related. I even have an insect cabinet... I like to collect insect stuff that is anatomically correct ie. 6 legs! And my favourite insect to collect are flowerflies (family: Syrphidae) I am SUCH a GEEK!

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be?
Um, how about I get one first?

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Definitely New Years Day. We get to eat special food just for that day. It's a huge family get-together. And when we were younger, we'd get money and play New Years games. It takes weeks of preparation for that day, and we even go to my Aunt's place the night before to help. It's also important to eat special noodles on New Years Eve to ensure a good, prosperous year ahead. The only down side is that you have to clean your house from top to bottom before Jan. 1st, otherwise past stuff will bog you down from having a prosperous year.

Oh, how fun to see everyone's responses!

1. An orange scarf with some beautiful multi-colored yarn for a friend in Southern California that really has no need for a scarf but I am so proud of each row because the colors are so fun!

2. I wish I didn't take things so personally and get my feelings hurt so easily.

3. I am learning to sew. My list includes a purple quilt for a dear friend's baby due this summer (so I have a little time), red curtains for our living room, and napkins for everyone next Christmas.

4. No pets yet, but I get to enjoy all the farm animals at work. Chocolate is right outside our window now.

5. ALL the farmgirls!

6. Since our house is new to us, I have a long list here. So, not the stuff we'll actually do, just the stuff we dream of doing...knock out our a bedroom wall for french doors to the deck, add a basement bathroom (with HUGE tub), finish basement bedrooms...mmmm, maybe add a second floor...why not?

7. This one is fun! Start off with my yoga class (it always improves my mood), get a yummy smoothie from our co-op and walk home with my hubby. Take a really leasurely nap with my hubby...maybe do some knitting or embroidery or read a book. Spend an ample amount of time making a yummy dinner together. And end the evening with a date; a good movie and popcorn, a basketball game or maybe have the family over for a good game of Taboo or Cranium. A bath before bed and maybe even, if I am extra lucky, a backrub from my honey.

8. I don't really, but I love pigs and people always buy/make me pig things so I guess I do have a pig collection.

9. We have only been married a year and a half, so not yet. I am still pinching myself because I can't believe I found him!

10. Oh, so hard to choose...Christmas it is. It is so wonderful to have one day that is exclusively for happiness and family.

Uh-oh, I'm sorry! Your SO is your Significant Other. A government term for spouse, live-in, or partner.

And Bobbi, you startled me at first; I thought you meant you had two husbands, one is a snake and the other a spider! LOL!

I look foward to more of your interesting responses; you guys are doing great!

1. A pair of knit socks without mistakes!
2. I wouldn't listen to people who say, "but you can't do that..."
3. Taking on my first little farmstead, warts and all.
4. Two dachsies, multiple cats and my "girls" (chickens, that is)
5. Mary Jane and the farmgirls...all that positive energy!
6. Multiply the acreage by 20
7. Up very early, listening to my rooster alarm; nice cuppa coffee or two, an hour of quiet to knit, out with the girls, back to knitting, friends over for lunch or dinner. More knitting....
8. Cookbooks, too many things, come to think of it.
9. Hmmmmm. I'd probably make him invisible.
10. Christmas, by all means! Family, baking, warmth, love. It's the greatest!

I am tired of cleaning the state flower( mildew) from growing around them.

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day. A good cup of tea or coffee. going to nurseries and antique shops all day. Coming home to afternoon tea and a good book. spending the evening doing some kind of handwork.A good movie.

8. Do you collect anything? Aprons and vintage textiles

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be? I would like him to learn to relax more often. To learn to just sit back and be still.

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why? Christmas. It has always seemed to be homey and full of family and tradition.

There's no point to these quizzes I do sometimes. It's just a way for everyone to get to know each other better, and to have some fun. Copy and paste in your response box, and answer away. Have at it!

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of? a scrapbook

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? That I could never get sick.

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever? huge pumpkin patch

4. Who are your pets right now? Alfred the turtle, buddy the bullsnake, and Rosie the rose haired turantula (the snake and spider are my husbands)

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site? the sense of community

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want. *poof* I would be off the grid and self sustaining.

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day. There are 2 scenarios that I really enjoy. The first one is around the holidays doing my baking and handing snips and scraps of sweet treats to the girls who are hanging off my legs, or the girls having a daddy day while I am out puttering around in the garden.

8. Do you collect anything? Shot glasses from different places

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be? I would want him to discover how much fun it is to get outside and do things....

10. What is your favorite holiday? Why? Halloween. I have always loved the crisp feeling in the air and becoming someone or something else for a night. Now that my girls birthdays are the 29th of October and the 13th of November I love it because we have our 2 kids at once big birthday party around then.

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

Before I begin- wow this is so fun and i love reading what everyone has written.

1-my children
2-get a pocket that the money wouldn't burn a hole in
3-start my own farm/veggie/egg/craft/antique business
4- Wiggly, 2 yr old saint bernard and Skynard (Lynard) a tabby stray of unknown age plus puppy sitting my mom's tiny poodle.
5- the love warmth and caring of the farmgirls heart
6- Turn the smaller barn into a bunk house and add a great room with a big stone fireplace.
7- Autumn on a crisp cool day standing on the sidelines of my son's football game cheering my head off!!!!!!!!
8- small doll chairs about 5- 8 inches in height, not sure how that started but I think it was a garage sale find.
9- more time for him to fish, which is his favorite past time, but he works a seasonal job so in summer it is a feast of hours and the winter a famine. So he must work as much as he can in the summer which leaves no time for fishing.
10- Christmas without a doubt. It reminds us to look for the good in all and remember our blessings, plus the food is amazing!!!!!

May you achieve your full potential to excel intellectually, to live spiritually, to lead responsibly, to act justly and to serve selflessly. Have a wonderful Holiday and a Happy New Year!

Mary Ann,
Nice name, also belongs to my dear mom.

This is fun, thanks for starting this topic....

1. What is the last thing you made that you felt proud of?
My Children~ My oldest journled at school,If you could choose one woman for Mrs. America who would it be and why? Well, He chose me. Then his teacher read to me what my son thinks of his mother.
My youngest son,(6) we went to visit 'aunt' thelma at the old folks home. When we went to say goodbye he set her walker up in front of her and held on to it , to stablize it. Words can't even express how I feel about these two young men.

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
There are so many things. One thing, hhhmmm, I wish I could I had a beautiful singing voice.

3. What's the next thing on your 'want to do' list? Chickens? Fruit trees? Sewing or knitting something clever?
Planting a flower garden in the front yard and get rid of the 'lawn'. I would like to implement the Lasagna garden idea .

4. Who are your pets right now?
We have Chester, our beloved dog, aka 'chester fried chicken', 'buhda, buhda','worster-chester-sire-sauce' we picked him up at the pound 1 year ago. He is a sweetie, but he was there because he does not get along with other animals. I think he thinks he's above them. So all other 'pets' are put on hold due to him. But we also saved his life.

5. What do you think is the best thing about this site?
I am so inspired. Like minds sharing ideas.

6. If you could wave a magic wand, and change something about your house or farm, what would you do? Now, since this is a fantasy question, it doesn't have to be sensible or cost effective; just fun, or something you want.
My list is very long, I would love to add a sunroom, have my garden grown in and all trees and flowers matured. I would love my kithcen to have more of a farm house look. A big garden tub in the master bath, A greenhouse and a potting shed. Told you it was a long list

7. Describe what for you is a perfect day.
Getting up early on a summer morn', walking the paths in the yard, gathering flowers for an arrangement, picking vegetables for stew, coming inside , greeted by my husband and a hot cup of joe, my sons with there orange juice. Going to Davis creek for a hike and lunch. Coming home for a nap all cozy together wrapped up in quilts. Waking to simmering stew, with fresh bread. Working on some projects , while the boys read outloud james herriott. Then off to bed....

8. Do you collect anything?
Baskets, fabric, books

9. If there was one thing you could change about your SO (getting out that great magic wand again!), what would that be?
I would love for him to have more self-confidence, and sometimes he is so serious, I wish he could get intouch with the little boy inside of him. (not the 14 year old.)
10. What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Another hard question. Easter, - spring, new begginings, I really feel like a fresh start.

1. finished a cute ear flap cap last night for 9 year old son..seeing his smile when he went off to school in it made me proud.
2. I would lose weight and get some much needed organization done in my laundry/sewing room and bedroom
3. a new kitchen counter..keeping being put off and the money used for other stuff that comes up...it is getting ridiculous and MUST be done
4.Oh..gosh..all of them? Well, Mona the cow of course, Stella (almost 9 year old basset) Maggie (1 year old basset) Frank (10 year old weiner dog) Pumpkin(10 yr. old cat) Alice (9 month old cat) two ewes..Juliet is 5 years old and Trixie (her daughter) is almost 2. One little ram named Dooley, almost a year old, one very spoiled almost 3 year old angora goat named Pearl, one angora bunny named Toby, and about 3 dozen Banty chickens, (my favorite hen is named LuLu) ...oh..and we have a fish named Bobby.
5. I love how everyone here is so caring and sweet..and it is great fun to have "girlfriends" everywhere!
6. I would add about 2 acres all the way around our property..making it total about 8 acres (I mean 2 acres each way or so) and would add another bathroom..and magically have it painted and a new roof ...green metal...put on....oh..and the orange shag carpet in the familr room would turn into a nice oatmeal colored berber carpet. While the magic wand is out...I would have the sewing room/laundry room be the best insulated room in the house..right now it is the worst!
7. My perfect day is one where I get at least 4 hours of alone time, get to stay home and not go a single place all day, I would get to have fresh asparagus and cheesecake on that day too. And someone would have done all the laundry and dishes (I guess magically since I am the only one who does those things) so I can have time to sew and knit alot
8. I collect alot of things..mostly old stuff and I love dishes and books
9. Is that Significant other?? That is my guess. If that is what it means I would change him by making him calmer. He is very high strung and stresses himself out more than he needs to..he tends to over react and have a big old reaction to alot of things..not like a bad temper but like he gets all hyper and frantic.
10. I love Christmas of course..but also Halloween. The kids are just so filled with Joy and we have so much fun planning and making costumes. And gosh, Thanksgiving is wonderful too..much more relaxing the the other holidays..it is just all about the meal and being together. And..boy, I love Easter too!!!

more assertive when I need to be.
travel
Lady a cocker spaniel
The opportunity to meet ladies from all over.
I would build a 5 seasons room and an addition to my kitchen so I had more room when we have our family for special occasions.
A perfect day is going for a walk somewhere in the country, maybe have a picnic and just enjoy nature.
dolls, aprons, gooseberry cookbooks, angel things
what is SO?
4th of July, love fireworks.

1. Proud..Many things but the first thing I thought of was DH, for working so hard he's taking 18 units (6 classes)and teaching 3 classes so he can finish so we can get on with life.
2. Change..Stop carrying around guilt.
3. To do list..I have had this painting in my head for a while now and the next thing on the list is to stretch the canvas and paint that painting.
4. Pets..Just the potatoe starter.
5. Best about this site..The Ladies
6. Magic Wand.. Well I live in an apt. So I would change everything turn it into a converted barn, with lots of land enough to keep some wild, no white walls, have some animals and two little studios one for me and one for DH.
7. Perfect day..Well that would be sunny, blustery day and taking a ride in a random direction with a packed picnic with my best friend - DH.
8. Collect anything..Lots of stuff, all kind of little stuff nature leaves laying around, fabric, fancy papers, and bits of random things.
9. Change "SO"..Not sure what that is? Oh ok I get it, Hum..he worries a lot.
10. Favorite Holiday.. This one's hard, I think the solstices and equinoxs. Very magical times of the year.

Blessed Be
