Since we've been on the subject of favorite lines from the movies, I was thinking of my favorite love scene. Of course, there are many memorable ones, but I think my favorite is in The River. Stars Mel Gibson and Sissy Spacek. They are a farm couple, trying to preserve the family farm. One scene has her putting away groceries and he comes in from working outside to wash up. He notices her reaching up in the cabinets and comes up behind her. She sends the little girl out to gather eggs and they have the most delicious kiss I've ever seen in a movie. She says, "It's the middle of the afternoon." And he says, "It's my favorite time of day." It makes my stomach lurch every time I see it - and I bought the movie recently on Amazon so Chris and I can see it whenever we like - he thinks it's a great kiss, too...

"Hope Floats" when Sandra Bullock is in the shop and the pictures are coming out all weird and her boss goes "Oh, No" and then the pictures of Harry Connick, Jr. come out and he's standing outside with that grin on his face holding the flowers. It is so sweet. I love "The Notebook". My hubby took me to see that and the 3 little old ladies behind us said "Yeah, like that'll ever happen". I was sitting there just bawling and my hubby was handing me napkins. "Somewhere in Time" is good, too. So is "Last of the Mohicans".

Ah, love!

Oh such great choices! You've chosen some of my favorites. The end of An Officer and a Gentleman, The Last of the Mohicans...the actor is Daniel Day-Lewis...I love that whole movie. Top Gun. I also love John Cusack in just about anything he does but my all time favorite movie of his is The Sure Thing.

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.

OH Deb!! My favorite too. Every scene is too good. I'll never forget when they first meet, and she ask, "is it you?" My favorite would be when after her performance she is getting her pic taken and she looks at him. That is the pic that hangs in the hotel that Cristopher Reeve falls in love with "again". Then when they are eating fried chicken and he is talking about his suit. I keep watching it and screaming at him NOT to find that penny! I also love the music from the movie.

How about The Last of the Mohekins? (don't know how to spell) The love scene in that one is too hot. And when the indian that was in love with the younger sister was killed she jumped off the cliff. I just cried over that. But when the main character (was it Liam Neisen?) was under the waterfall and he hollers out "I will find you!" I just loved that.

OH such WONDERFUL picks ladies! "The River" is one of my absolute FAVORITE movies of ALL time!! (and who WOULDN'T enjoy an "afternoon romp" with a young Mel Gibson? ... come on ladies... be HONEST! He's a BEAUTIFUL man!!)

I also love the Scene in "Say Anything" with John Cusack and the radio, Dawn. Such an 80's guy romance thing...

"An Officer and a Gentleman" is a good one too. I mean, what young (and OLDER) woman doesn't DREAM of a handsome man in uniform literally swoopng in, sweeping her off her feet, and carrying her off into the sunset? Gotta love that.

Oh, and the love story in "Anna and the King" (the one with Jodi Foster). You gotta LOVE that whole movie... I sure DO! The romance between Anna and the King is wonderful, but the scene when Tuptim and her love are beheaded gives me chills ... the music is very beautiful and haunting. As sad as that scene is, it is the epitome of true, true love.. to die for a love you believe in. Don't know if I'D go that far, but you just never know.

Okay, my favorite love scene? Don't laugh, I grew up in the 80's. John cusak holding the radio above his head outside the girl's window playing Peter Gabriels' "IN YOUR EYES". sigh......

Another one. Lane Frost and Kelly dancing under all the twinkling lights in 8 Seconds.... another sigh.....

I absolutely can't stand love scenes in movies. Guess I'm the weird one, eh?

But Mikki, your story about your parents is so beautiful it almost made me cry.

Maybe it's just the fake love scenes that bother me.

Mikki, I have read the book and seen the movie. I just KNOW what you mean, wonderful!!

Yes the story about your mom and dad is so sweet. It reminds me of the love between my Opi and Omi (grandparents)
They were sweethearts from the minute they met, and stayed that way until after Omi (grandmommy) passed away. My Opi missed her every single day since, until he passed away a few years later. I am absolutely sure they are still sweethearts in Heaven.

My favorite of all time is the very end of Sweet Home Alabama when Melanie goes out on the beach where Jake is putting the lightning rods out. I could replay that scene over and over.

gosh, do i have to be serious? how about the scene in mel brooks "young frankenstein" when the monster (peter boyle)(synopsis according to wikipedia) "kidnaps and ravishes the not-unwilling Elizabeth (madeline kahn) when she arrives unexpectedly for a visit. Elizabeth falls in love with the creature due to his inhuman stamina and"... ???? remember the music?
Ahh, Sweet mystery of life i've found you" Ok i'm off to watch this movie again. I'm laughing now....

Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life
At last,I've found you.
Ah! At last I know the secret of it all.
For the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning,
The burning hopes,
The joy and idle tears that fall.

For 'tis love and love alone,
The world is seeking.
And 'tis love and love alone,
That can repay.
'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living,
For it is love alone that rules for aye.

(LAST STANZA REPEATED AND CLOSES WITH);
For it is love alone
That rules for aye.

My favorite movie is The Mirror has Two Faces. Jeff Bridges and Barbara Striesand. When she finally reqests sex with him... Ya'll have to see that movie. Then at the end when someone puts on a Pavorati album and they're standing in the middle of a NYC street kissing. Oh my, what a movie! That is one movie I could watch every day and never get tired of.

Mikki, that is so sweet. What a love story. Amazing love, how could it be...

My favorite love scene is in the "Notebook" when he lies down in the bed with her, and they both pass on together, beautiful. I have a picture of my daddy and mommy, the day before she passed away he laid down by her side and they held each other. My sister and I went in the other room so they could be alone, we had her hospital bed in the living room. I snuck in and took a picture of them. They were holding hands, the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. It was just like the song, "He's walking Her Home" by Mark Shultz. It's on my blog playlist if you havent heard it. Daddy said yes, "I was walking her home." Bless his heart.
