We have the tv on a blues station on satalite tv. There was a line in one of the songs that just got me. I don't know who sang it but it was a lady. She said "If you can't lie no better than that you might as well tell the truth." Isn't that a great line?

So what are some of your favorite song line or something from a movie that got your attention and you can't forget it?

My favorite line in a movie was when Jack Nicholson told Helen Hunt "You make me want to be a better man." I loved that movie and I just melted when he said that. I cannot remember right now the name of that movie, but it will come to me soon.

Ok. maybe sappy but I love in the old I LOVE LUCY when Ricky sings "we're having a baby, my baby and me" and then figures out it really is him!
There are so many good lines I am grasping. I love Tom Sellick in Quigly Down Under. We quote him fairly often!!

Oh my gosh! I'd forgotten the "You've changed your hair," line in Out of Africa. I just love that movie. I could watch it over and over and over...

XOXO, Libbie

So funny! We are big movie quoters - my sons are so good at voices and quotes - Forrest Gump is heard constantly - "Mama called them my magic shoes...from then on, if I was going somewhere, I was run-ning"; one of my favorite movies is Four Seasons which someone mentioned..."do you know how that voice carries?!", and "if one of them farts, the other thinks it's Guy Lombardo"; You've Got Mail and Steel Magnolias also provide great lines. And Jaws - "you're gonna need a bigger boat", and the song, "I'm tired and I wanna go home". My very favorite move is Out of Africa, and I love when she says, "perhaps he knew as I did not, that God made the world round so we wouldn't know what comes next", (something like that). And when she rides into camp and Bror says, "you've changed your hair". So many more!

I still get a kick out of Clint Eastwood and his "Go ahead, make my day!" I also love the one "Are we having fun yet?" I say that one a lot!

Okay, so I really like it when Doc Holliday (in Tombstone) has had, oh....about five too many drinks, is seeing double...and he pulls out his guns and says, "...I've got one for the each of ya'"

Not a seriously life-changing one, but a quote that makes me laugh whenever I think of it.

XOXO, Libbie

I love the entire quote from The Velveteen Rabbit about 'What is Real' but mostly "Real is when a child loves you."

It's not about being perfect, but enjoying what you do. Set aside time to be creative.

"Don't cry shop girl, don't cry"... and "When you read a book as a child, it becomes a part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does".
from one of my favorite modern movies "You've Got Mail".

Kate, I love that movie! I seen the interview also, so sad. I think of him often. My mother passed away Thanksgiving morning 2007 with cancer, only 5 weeks after her diagnosis. We had no idea she was so sick, she had actually felt better than she had in years. I cried on the way home from walmart this evening, after seeing all the sweet little Easter and Mother's Day plaques. I picked her one out and will take it to the cemetery tomorrow. We had just came to a place in our lives where we were more friends than anything, it was very hard to let her go.

Mikki,
I watched Patrick Swayze on the ABC Special, and he mentioned that line as one that sticks with him, and one he hopes is true as he is facing death with cancer.

One of my favorite lines.

"Knock her lights out M'lyn, half of Chicapin parrish would give their eye teeth for a whack at Weezer." from Steel Magnolias

Actually half that movie is so funny, which is good because the other half is so sad.

What a fun post! Song: "There will be peace in the valley for me" Being in the valley is a lowest point in our lives, but to have peace while in the valley? Well isn't that wonderful!

Movie: Patrick Swayze in GHOST "It's amazing, Molly. The love inside, you take it with you."

And one of my favorite quotes from John Wayne not a movie line tho: "Courage is being scared to death..... but saddling up anyway. ****John Wayne

Oh boy, there are loads that I love, but the first one that popped into my head was Tiny Tim saying "God bless us, every one!".

hehe..it sure teaches us to aim high doesn't it..lol

my most favorite though is at the end of the most wonderful movie ever made. Rhett Butler looks at the whiney Miss Scarlett O'Hara and says, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a 'darn'."

I like the quote that Elizabeth Bennet says to Darcy after he proposes the first time

"You are mistaken, Mr. Darcy, if you suppose that the mode of your declaration affected me in any other way, than as it spared me the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more gentleman-like manner"

You can choose something like a star, to stay your mind on
And be staid.
Robert Frost

It is from a poem of his that is also a choral song....one I sang in high school that has stayed with me for my whole life. Choose a star, something far reaching, and fix your eyes on that.

I love it when the Mama in "Hope Floats" says, "My cup runneth over". I know when I feel so overwhelmed with joy, I also say that.
