Howdy Farmgirls,
I wanted to recommend this book. It is sooo cool! It is called Neighboring on The Air : cooking with the KMA Radio Homemakers by Evelyn Birkby (The ISBN # is 0877453160.

This is a cookbook but also a history of the homemakers who used to broadcast their cooking tips and homemaking ideas over the radio of KMA radio in Shenandoah Iowa. The mission of these women was to give practical advice and help with the day to day activities in midwestern farmhouse kitchens. Sounds like our beloved Farmgirl Connection, 1920's style! They had special shows like The Stitch and Chat Club, Home Hour, and the KMA party line. Besides the history of these women (and a few men) the recipes are great. The pictures too are priceless. I highly recommend it to every farmgirl! If Maryjane were to ever start a book list, this one should be on it.
Rachael

Happy Trails!!!!
