Good Morning!

I've been here in Lake Forest, IL (Near the WI border) for 8 months and was wondering if there are any Farmgirls in Lake Forest or nearby in Chicago or Kenosha, Wi?

Sounds good to me too! April 18, 1 p.m. outside the Chicago Botanic Garden Shop. Let's hope we get a nice day! No rain would be nice for a change!

Let's do it! Mark your calendars. Since we're all members, let's just meet outside the Garden Shop at 1 p.m. -- does that sound OK?

Works for me! Let me know if we're locked in and I'll put it on my calendar.

Thanks!

Deb -- So sorry you can't join us. Hopefully we'll be planning another walk at the Garden (or something else). Will keep you informed -- and will share our first gathering.

Have fun camping!

I'll catch you the next time around. I'll be camping that weekend. Can't wait to hear about your outing. I do hope you'll plan another.

Wonderful! OK, I'm looking at the calendar -- April 18 would be good for me. That's the Saturday after Easter. How about we get together around 1 p.m.? We can walk around the gardens a bit and then stop for a cup of tea or whatever in the Garden Cafe. I checked the Events Calendar to see if that was the Antique & Garden Fair weekend -- seems the event has been cancelled for 2009. Sad. But that makes Saturday April 18 a little less hectic at the Garden, and the spring flowers should be beautiful.

Let's get our little list together; let me know and I'll add your name to our list:

1. Katie in Northbrook
2. Linda in Lake Forest
3. Dawn in Homer Glen

We're updated -- three of us! Anyone else in the area want to join us?

Saturdays are better for me as well. Since we are members at CBG, I can pick someone up from a parking lot too.

A reminder if you are a member at CBG or Morton Arboretum that they are reciprocal gardens for each other & you get in free at both!

Depends on the Saturday. Let me know when you decide

Saturdays work better for me, how about the rest of you?

Yes, I know that shopping center. Love Trader Joe's. Also a good produce store there. Are we thinking a Saturday or Sunday?

There's a huge shopping center just across the hwy. we could meet there and pile in! Trader Joes and The Container store are right there.

Let's do it! It'd be a gas to meet some farm girls!

Deb -- Would be great to meet up with you, too, at the CBG! I did note, yesterday, that parking is now $20 for non-members. If you were going to drive up from the city, maybe you'd want to figure out somewhere else to park and one of us could transport you through the gate itself (no admission charge, just a huge parking charge). There is some public transportation, too, that might work for you.

Hope we can make this happen!

I'd be up for meeting at CBG. I've never gone - I keep meaning to but never make plans to.

Love Morton Arboretum! I let my membership lapse. When I go with my girls I have to drag them out of the childrens garden. I have to go by myself or with Mom so I can see the other areas.

Dawn and Linda -- Wouldn't it be fun to walk in the Garden together?? It's been a while since I've been to the Morton, Dawn, but my husband just loves trees so it's one of his favorite spots on (local) earth!!

I dashed over to the CBG just yesterday to pick up a book I needed at the garden shop. Somewhat surprised that my garden just 10 minutes away is a little more 'awake' than the gardens there -- 'colder near the lake' really has an effect this time of year.

Oh, and Linda, I've been to the Deerfield Farmer's Market. Liked that one alot. Have you been to the Cherry Pit cafe on Waukegan in Deerfield? (Hope it's still there.) Great local place. I go to the Farmer's Market in Northfield or Glenview and occasionally Deerfield or Wilmette (depending on where I am on a Saturday). This year I'm hoping to sneak a few more veggies into my beds here, but still love to go to the markets.

Anyway! Let's get together at the CBG!!

Dawn, would you like to join Linda and me for a walk?

So cool Dawn! I'm still getting to know the area so no I haven't been to the Morton Arboretum. We should plan a girl day and all get together at the Botanic Gardens. What do you think?

I'm a member of CBG too! We love it there. We try to go every couple of weeks. The Japanese and English Walled Gardens are my favorite two spots. We bought a rain barrel at their farmers market last fall.

I also volunteer at Morton Arboretum, have any of you ever been there?

You're on!

No I haven't been to the Ravinia Farmers market. I found one in Deerfield and was just told about one in Libertyville. I'd love to hook up and do the Prairie walk with you! That's one area I've yet to explore.

I'll e-mail you my info so we can make a plan, ok?

Hugs,

linda

Thanks, Linda, for your compliment re: my blog. Reminds me that I need to post again.

I'm a member at the CBG too, and I'd love to meet up for a walk. I used to go every Sunday morning to walk the prairie route. Need to get that back into my routine. A Saturday would work, too.

Do you go to the Farmer's Market at Ravinia? Or is there another one near you?

Let's link up in April sometime.

Oh joy Katie, you're really close by. I not only have been to the Botanic Gardens, I am a member. It's so pretty there. If my boyfriend ever gets around to asking me to marry him, that's where I'd like to get hitched!
As far as the gardening goes, I used to quite a bit but haven't lived on any property that is gardening friendly in the past several years.
We should try to meet up and go for a walk at the gardens some Saturday!

Hi Linda--
I'm not far from you -- in Northbrook. Are you a gardener? Have you been to the Botanic Garden? It's my favorite place!

Hey Deb & Dawn,

Yes it appears that we are in all different directions!

Unfortunately I am 20 miles southwest of Chicago. Too far from the other IL farmgirls. We seem to be spread kind of far apart from each other here.
