Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 04:10:22 AM It's finally here - normally Mom & I head out to the woods for a nice hike, but my day is full. Perhaps tomorrow.
Anyone else mark the first day of spring with a fun activity?

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 4:25:02 PM Happy spring, all! Today, here, it didn't start off spring-like. It was snowing this morning. It was the type of snow that sticked to everything...the trees and shrubs and grass. It didn't accumulate too much, but it was so pretty driving in to work! I took the back roads, and I wished I had my camera....everything looked so soft and white and the roads were not bad. By lunchtime, everything had melted.

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 3:06:25 PM Happy spring everyone!
Finally off work now, heading out into a sunshine filled day. Going to play with the horses. Better believe they know it's spring! With the snow melting off, they can finally climb to the top of the bluff and knicker when I leave. I may do it everyday, but just knowing it is finally spring makes it an extra special treat to go out and work with them. Hope you all have a great spring weekend, and get to that nice hike, Deb! Happy Nowrooz! What a great day for a celebration.

Posted - Mar 20 2009 : 07:46:29 AM Happy Nowrooz! The first day of spring is also the Persian New Year! I am busy cooking and baking for tonight's big celebration. This is a huge celebration day for Persians. The celebrating lasts for 13 days. On the final day we go for a picnic and put small pots of grass on little boats & send them down a stream for good luck & hopes for a fertile growing season.
I put more about Nowrooz in the holiday section.
Happy New Year & spring to everyone! Have a wonderful weekend celebrating the new season! Dawn in IL |
