My friend is starting a little catering business - she bakes and delivers to local business and just started doing soups. She needed a chenille baby quilt for a baby shower, so we bartered for it. She got the baby quilt and I got, (the way better deal in my opinion!)
8 weeks of once-a-week delivery of a quart of homemade soup and either four biscuits or two homemade big homemade rolls. Now that's what I call a deal!!! Now once a week for 8 weeks, I'm a lady of leisure - dinners is being delivered - and it's homemade and healthy!

What a great deal! I had thought about bartering homemade bread once a week for a dozen eggs. The egg ladies over in the barnyard thread thought it was a great idea. Now with your enthusiasm for your great deal, I think I'll approach my friend about it.

A great trade I think! And your description of the navy bean soup made my mouth water!

I think that is a great deal for the both of you. I would love dinner delivered to my home. Very cool. I hope her business takes off.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Carol Sue - the only thing that would make it better would be to have some of Gary's biscuits with it, but alas, they are all gone!!!

Well, we just ate installment number 1 and it was delicious! Thick navy bean soup, full of carrots and celery and big chunks of ham, and whole wheat yeast rolls. Just happens that this is our anniversary, so I didn't have to cook, and we still had a delicious meal. And Marybeth, I don't feel like a hard bargainer - she is only charging $5 for this meal and I gave her $20 off on the quilt, so 8 X $5 is $40 for the quilt - but still feels like a super bargain to me. Anytime I get 8 days off from cooking and get homemade food, it's a celebration! I spent the afternoon working outside instead of cooking - it was nice!
