Dh and I are celebrating our 38th anniversary this week and last night he asked "Do you want to go somewhere next weekend and spend the night?" I about fell over! A little late notice but appreciated nevertheless. The weather here is awful this year and since we live near the beach now, he wants to go somewhere east. Is there sun anywhere on the eastside predicted for the weekend? He is so tired of the cold wet weather he would really love some sun, so just wondering if you gals over the mountain can direct us to any warm spots we can go for the weekend??? Thanks!

Sherri...Wow..the girls have scoped this out well. The weather for the this & next week is soggy..off & on.... But the ocean is always wonderful.. anytime. There are some great late reservations anywhere you want to go ,... Check out Vacation Rentals By Owners Or VRBO on the internet. Just pick your state & many cities are listed.& there are many last minute rentals available.

Up that's where they have the wind surfers. I found that near the water was windy but the Motel is on higher ground. JoAnn

Hood River is really windy isn't it? Isn't that where they windsurf on the Columbia?

Hood River is just as windy as Ellensburg but I agree, a change of pace is in order so have a great time!

I won't be at the BBB but maybe another time we'll catch up with each other, no worries.

Hey Jami! We thought about going to the Quinault Resort there at Ocean Shores but they were full for that night. We go to OS all the time to take the dogs onto the beach to run and the weather is always crazy there! I thought about ellensburg - usually it's nice when we go through there, windy but nice. We have friends that live there and have stopped to see them occasionally. I'd love to have seen your lambs and met you if we went over there but I guess we're going to Hood River afterall. DH said "let's do something different", so off we go on Saturday. Hope to meet you at BBB.

Sherri, for what it's worth, DH and I went to Ocean Shores weekend before last for our anniversary celebration...came through your neck of the woods and thought about you but I had no information with me of course!

Anyhoooo, it snowed, sleeted and hailed on us while walking on the beach. Craziest weather we've ever had on our yearly journey to the ocean (different places each year). I wish you well in finding a warm sunny spot but just a getaway will be fun with your sweetheart no matter what the weather is. If you come to Ellensburg give me a call and you can come see the lambs...hopefully we'll have some by then. The girls are holding out on us.

Well, Joann - dh just called and they don't have any view rooms left, so now we have to decide if we want to do that or find something else. Bummer.

I went there myself to go to the Hood River Blossom Fest last year in April so I only had the view room. That's when all the fruit trees are suppose to be in full bloom well last year it snowed on me!!! All the orchardists were staying awake all night keeping their smudge pots going all night. That said there were beautiful trees and flowers blooming at the now closed fancy hotels next door. If I was going with Jim for an anniversary and this time of year I opted for sure for the good view and fireplace. THere is a waterfall just next door but closeby or if you go through Portland there is Multnomah(sp) Falls one of the largest or the largest falls in Oregon that is spectacular. There's a beautiful old timbered lodge there where I went for breakfast. Ask for the room in the back which is glassed in and gives a wonderful view of the falls. Sidenote when I went I was sitting alone and the room was full. A very distinguished looking gentleman came over and asked if he could sit with me since I was alone. His family had taken the short hike up to the falls. Turned out he was from Poland(I'm 100% Polish background, a retired doctor. I let him since I know in European countries people often share tables with stranges. He even offered to buy my breakfast. I decllined. We had an interesting chat.Later his family did indeed arrive. Found the website Joann - looks great - I"ll have to show it to dh tonight. They have non-view, view, larger view, fireplace and whirlpool rooms - which did you stay in? I know you said view, but any of the other stuff? Prices are right.

Sherri, The name of the place I stayed was the Vagabond Lodge. www.vagonbondlodge.com I got the rooms with a view second floor in the newer units. Hope the weather gets better. JoAnn P.S. I might have a conflict on the days of the BBB. Truthfully I miss going to the Farm

Sherri, When I read this in the morning I had to laugh. Kind of sad isn't it. The midwest seems to be getting the weather we should have. I would suggest watching the weather after Wed. or so after these Pacific storms roll through. That said it is sunny and 45 here. My suggestion would be to check the Columbia Gorge area. I found a beautiful mote. in Hood River adjacent to the fancy dancy Columbia Gorge hotel which has closed--I couldn't believe that. In the "growing" season the CGH had beautiful gardens you could just walk from the motel enjoy and oh the waterfall. It overlooks the Columbia River. It's a cute touristy town and you can tour the Full Sail brewery(I think that's the name).JoAnn

Just as I suspected - there are no good mini-vacations spots in the northwest this month LOL!
