Posted - Mar 13 2009 : 1:16:25 PM I am so excited!!! This will be my third time participating as a vendor and I am absolutely over the moon!!
You all know that this past year has been really life-altering for me. I'm now in a place that is filled with serenity, reflection, gratitude, friendship and awe. I've been able to sew again, something that I simply wasn't able to do for months on end. It has always been healing and meditative for but it is so much more so now.
What I've decided to do for Farm Fair this year is donate all of the proceeds from my sales to charity. There are 5 organizations that have been instrumental for us this past year and I want to be able to give back. They are; the Ronald McDonald House, CandleLighters, Make-A-Wish, SuperSibs, and The American Leukemia and Lymphoma Association. So, if you buy something from me, you can decided which organization gets the donation.
I wanted to throw this idea out there for you farmgirls that can't come to Farm Fair but perhaps would like to participate in this sort of fundraiser that I'm doing but also as a way to advertise your work. I was thinking of setting up a FarmGirl Sisters section and would ask that you send me your hand made things to sell. Mind you, I am donating all of the proceeds so this would be a donation on your part too, but you could advertise your website or etsy site on a tag that is attached to your item...something like that. It could be another way to show off your creativity to A LOT of people. You could decide where the donation ought to go so the person buying it knows.. etc..etc...
My booth is all about sewing, stitching and such. I'll be selling clothes, stitcheries, menstrual pads, napkin sets and the like. Anything along this theme would be great.
I've NEVER done anything like this so I feel a little insecure asking..Is this idea too weird? Is it too much to ask? Please, I need some guidance here!!! Any and ALL ideas and comments are welcomed and NEEDED!!
Thanks farmgirls..I really am THRILLED!! Blessings, ~julia

That really cute picture of Aria in MaryJane's magazine last month with the dirty feet? That was taken at farm fair..Aria was almost 3! She refused to wear shoes..it was the cutest thing! Nora will LOVE it!!
Ladies....even if you can't come to the fair, if you want to send me something to sell for you I'd be so delighted!! You could be at the fair in that way!! maybe that would help take the stiing out of not being able to be there in real life!!!
Sending love and good cheer!! ~julia

Posted - Mar 15 2009 : 07:57:10 AM Karen, could I trouble you to email me your address and phone number. I didn't know anything about the chapter meeting on the 3rd. I must confess, with little ones it is nearly impossible for me to get away, especially in the evenings but I would love some information and I'd be thrilled to talk about the Farm Fair donation idea....Looking forward to hearing from you!! With warmth and affection, ~julia

Posted - Mar 13 2009 : 6:04:53 PM Before we go any further, I'll need to make sure this is all ok with MaryJane. I neglected to get her full ok. It is her party afterall! Still, Ruth and Melody, I'll keep you right up there. You work is EXCELLENT and it would be my honor and privilege to have a bit of you with me as we celebrate not only FarmGirl Spirit but the idea of Freedom and Independence!
Much love, ~julia

Posted - Mar 13 2009 : 1:36:56 PM Julia,
Congratulations and great ideas. So generous too! Glad that you have a new zest. Sometimes it takes slowing down or backing away from something in order to come back to it with a new perspective!
I wish that we could be at the event. I'm providing flowers for a 4th of July wedding, and then camping locally. Sorry that I'll miss the fun and your booth.
