Hello to all the lotion, soap makers out there maybe you could help me out. I think I have rosacia, I don't want to go to the dermotologist, because its not real bad but it could use something. I am not big on makeup and rarely wear it but some of the red spots are kind of noticable. Thanks Toni

Have you tried taking Evening Primrose Oil? It helps my excema and might help your rosacia. It always gets worse before it gets better. Also, do you have an herb doctor or alternative doctor near you? I would try going there first.

Good luck. Kris

Like Ingrid says, diet can totally cause Rosacea to act up. I know that an elimination diet has helped some people, where you basically eliminate certain food groups for two weeks to see if you notice a difference in your health. Some people have so many food allergies that they have to take it down to a gluten-free BRA diet (BRAT diet minus the T, since toast has gluten in it) to see any difference, but a lot people are able to cut out just dairy and wheat/gluten products and see a big difference in their skin disorders (like acne, psoriasis, and rosacea).

Good luck!!

My hubby has rosacea and so does my sister. It can be helped by what you eat or avoid. Look up what foods can cause it to be worse. It really does make a difference. My hubby is a heavy duty mechanic so it is a challenge to keep his face clean and sometimes has to use harsh soaps. He usually only has to use medical cream and medication about twice a year. The rest of the time he watches what he eats. My sister says makeup makes it worse when she has a flare up.

Hi Toni! From what I understand, there's not really a cure for rosacea, but your dermatologist can prescribe a medical cream that can help control the flare-ups. If you don't want to go that route, I would suggest using a mild cleansing soap every day (like a castile) followed by moisturizer, preferably unfragranced. Establishing a routine should help to let your skin balance and adjust. It will help a lot if you can figure out what triggers your flare-ups. Sorry you are suffering with this; my MIL does also and it's not a fun condition. :(
