calls it

And I feel totally normal. With the exception of a backache, because I think she was "slung" to the right all night long, compressing some nerves. This pregnancy has been SUCH a breeze, I almost feel guilty saying it--hope that doesn't have any bearing on the labor!

So many things are in my noggin' today, about this event, about this day...and about afterwards. That I won't have these little "flutters" in my tummy anymore--but I'll have a little one to hold.

Think I might write a journal entry this evening when I get home to mark my feelings and this day. Even if she's not into being prompt, like her mother

Hey there. Just checking in to see how our little mommie to be is doing. I just talked with Wilma and she was having a grand time with her grandbaby this morning.

Yep...we need mini-edition shirts for our Knob Lick Country Club for the youngin's of the bunch. :)

Lots of babies going around...one at work is expecting in about a month, another coworker @ work's wife is expecting, and I have another cousin that is due in the next week.

Miss Vi...good luck with the labor. Cannot wait to see what she looks like! I know with my youngest nephew, my SIL had to walk a LOT because she kept having false contractions. It was bitterly cold outside and finally on a day when it warmed up she had him. :) Maybe little Violet is waiting to build a snowman. Teehee.

Take care!

Thanks all...your wishes mean the world to us!

Miss Wilma, I wasn't quite sure, either, but I figured I'd let you bask in the glow of that little baby--I know how much you've been missing him, and I'm sure glad he was there!!!

Ahh shucks. You are too kind...I think I'm "alright" but I do think my husband is a beautiful man!!! He does look like James Dean, doesn't he, Wilma?!

I also had easy pregnancies but had to have a c-section. Never know until the last minute. Just enjoy and be prepared for anything. My daughter was born on the 25th of February 22 years ago. My older sister said to me just think you will have a new baby just in time for March as I was over due. She was just trying to keep my mind busy just before I delivered. Yes we did leave the hospital on March 1! I teased my older sister say you knew my daughter better then her own mother.

I just saw this and wanted to wish you a safe and uneventful labor and delivery. It is so exiting to know your little one will be here so soon. I know you and your hubby are anxiously waiting. But she will be here when she is ready. She may have a few more things to do before she comes on out.

You know the song by Brad Paisley "Waiting on a Woman"? She's just taking her time just because she can. She's a lady, ya know!

I'll be thinking of you and waiting to hear more news.

It seems that a lot of doctors are quick to induce now, even before your due date. I was due Jan. 4th and in early December my doctor started asking if I wanted to be induced before the end of the year for tax purposes. Tax purposes!! I couldn't believe that, but he said alot of people request it to save money. It would have saved us alot of money since we had already met our high deductible, but I just couldn't agree to that. But he still asked at every appt and kind of chuckled when I said the baby would come when it was ready. Then when I went into labor on Dec. 31st, he laughed and said, "aren't you the one that didn't want to be induced this year?"

Good luck in labor and I keep forgetting to tell you how much I like your daughter's name. Very cute!
FebruaryViolet Posted - Feb 19 2009 : 3:12:00 PM
You and I can "share" the soapbox, Elizabeth...I completely agree :) I asked my doc because I was nervous that he would be one of those who quickly induced or suggested c-sections. Thankfully, he applauded me and said, "you're a breath of fresh air--if I only had more ladies like you!" I am in no way afraid of labor (I've made my peace with the fact that it's gonna suck a bit ;)) but I don't want things to be more unnatural than they already could be in a hospital environment.
babysmama Posted - Feb 19 2009 : 2:42:55 PM
I agree with not rushing things, this baby will come when she is ready! A normal pregnancy is 38-42 weeks so it is perfectly normal to go a week or more overdue and no danger until it creeps closer to that 42 week mark. Inductions many be more convient but they are more stressful to the body and the baby since it is "forcing" the body to go into labor before it is ready. Depending on the methods of induction they are also more painful (pitocin makes very hard contractions with little breathing room in between). There are cases when an induction is nessicary and then you just have to go with the flow but when everything is perfectly normal there is no reason to be in a rush (except for wanting to see that little one!). I'll step off my soap box now.

Congratulations and best wishes for a great delivery! Power walks always helped me along - ok, it was really a slow walk, but it did help. For one of ours, we toured the zoo - it did the trick. Maybe it was all of the animal noises, Paige just had to see what what so exciting!

You must be sooo excited! It is wonderful time for you and your husband. I hope your birth experience is perfect.

Keep up the great attitude and enjoy these last moments of pregnancy with THIS baby. You will never again have her on the inside.....so enjoy it. Like the previous poster said....enjoy the alone time with your husband....and cherish the moments that if you want a nap you can take one without having to care for anyone else. Your next pregnancy you will be running after a todder/child and won't have the freedom to rest when you want.

Thank you so much, Diana...it's such a wonderful feeling--yesterday seemed like any other day, but today, because of the "date" it feels like a holiday, even though nothing is happening--but celebratory none the less.

The docs used to let folks go quite a while, didn't they? Gosh, 4 1/2 weeks!!!! My husband was a month late, and he was quite large. I'm hoping that this little one decides she wants to see the snowfall on Saturday--cold or no!

I'm so happy and excited for the upcoming arrival of your little daughter :) I hope that you have an easy labor and delivery, and that you are blessed with a healthy baby.

All 3 of mine were late...first was 3 weeks late, 2nd was 2 weeks late, and my youngest was 4 1/2 weeks late. I had my 2nd the morning I was supposed to be induced, and with my youngest they tried inducing me twice, but he decided he liked it where he was at...LOL!

Thanks all for your wonderful wishes....I'm going to print this out for her baby book--hope you all don't mind!

Jeannie--they said they wouldn't let me go past March 1, which is not so far away...I did ask him about inducing because it seems that it's somewhat "popular" around this area (to schedule your delivery for convenience, both on mom's part and doc's) and he doesn't believe in it, unless the baby or mother is compromised. So, I guess we'll just see what happens. I'm excited, but if she's not done baking, then she can go a little more--I don't at all feel terrible, but ask me in a few days :)

Diane--my back hurt this am, but it's gone now. The heating pad works wonders! It really only hurts, too, when I get up in the morning, and after a warm shower, and walking about, it sortof goes back in line. This am was different, because it felt more "muscular" as opposed to disconnected!

Will the doctor have you come on in to the hospital and break your water? That is what they did with my daughter and she had the baby 2 hours later. Labor immediately started. What does your doctor think about letting you wait? Thinking of you and looking forward to hearing all about that little one!

I went over with all three of my children and as my due date came and went I got depressed and just wanted them out! Take this time to get the last minute things done at home and to just relax. These are the last few days that you and your husband will ever be truely alone again! Pamper yourselves and enjoy the quiet. And many blessings for a fast and easy labor and delivery.

I love that she will be on your office door with all your other cool farmgirl items...yep, the Zinnia's are from our yard, I remember. Nice and bright, the last of the season. And, if she gets to share the spotlight with Jack and Dave, now THAT'S rating!!!!

Yes, Karen--this will be our first. I was given a journal at one of my showers, that everyone wrote their advice down in--which was really poignant because it was a shower thrown by my best friend in town (a guy) and there were other guys in attendance, and all wrote freely about what they remembered and loved most about childhood and their mom's. So, I will continue my thoughts in that journal. I loved reading my baby book when I was little, finding out about myself, and my mom and dad--I hope this journal serves as an additional "insight" into her parents and life.

Congratulations on your grandchild--does she know "who" she's having, or will it be a wonderful surprise?
