I finished reading "Ecotopia" and "Ecotopia Emerging"...what excellent books! Even though these books are fiction, they have these wonderful concepts that could easily be used in the "real" world. Wonder why no one has ever tried them?
These books are about a time when California was given to a "clan" of people who wanted to form their own "country". No one was allowed in except residence and it talks about all the way they became self- sufficient and self-sustainable. The second book takes place ten years later and they allow a New York reporter to come and do an article about them. The reporter falls in love....etc.
You just gotta read these....I loved them.

in a way...it's all about working for the common good, but there are characters that fall in love with each other. These books definately AREN'T Harlequin Romances if that is what you're asking....
