while the bloomers idea sounds good, it is really impracticable. i tried it. they end up being bulky and hot,not good for an active girl. for now i'm just swallowing my pride and wearing a suit that will do until i find the one that looks great. hopefully we will be seeing more retro glam suits again, they were all over vogue last spring. it just takes awhile for "new" ideas to trickle down to the rest of us.

I'm only laughing because I gave up on buying a suit some 16 years ago or so for the very reasons stated in that story. However, as it has turned out several years ago, I can't expose my skin to the sun anyway and have found the perfect swim suit! For those of you like me who have to minimize sun exposure and are simply too uncomfortable and self conscious in a traditional suit; here is the perfect suit for you, too:

Consider them the modern version of the skirted tops and bloomers!

Glad i'm not the only one.

I used to swear by Speedo. Got really embarassed a few summers ago when my backside was a little too exposed. They size really small these days.

I have i 2 piece tankini i'll probably wear to shreds like my shorts. OOOps may not be able to wear it to that degree, but that's how comfortable and nice it is.

We will be vacationing back at the same beach, so once agin i'm on the hunt for a newer but modest 2 piece.

and here's a funny.

A few summers back, i orderd a 2 piece. thought i'd go by my bust size (really small), my chest girth (kind of beefy---like 38) and my regular pant/short size. Size 8

we'll both the top and bottom suit had to be sent back. It coulod have fit 2 of me easily! and sorry, I wasn't going to try and GROW into it!

I like the variety mail order has, but don't trust the fit unless it can be tried on. not too many store around here sell decent and durable swim suits for the surfer girl.

Oh my what a cute aricle! I feel much the same, after living on a tropical island for three years and being made to wear a bathing suit almost every day one would think that I would get over it. No way I still dread getting into one of those uncomfortable horrid things.. I say we go back to wearing bloomers and tops to the pool!!

hehe I love it! I know what those high cuts deals are like..sheesh!! I guess,I now can appreciate that I wasn't endowed in the Northern Hemisphere so as to avoid that issue..hehe I don't think suits were really designed with women in mind. :P They were designed by men who chose which parts they wanted to see and then how could women be as uncomfortable as possible in it..
Thanks for sharing!
hugs
