Posted - Feb 01 2009 : 07:54:48 AM I am full of stories today it seems, lol. Decided to make a new post because I didn't want to hi-jack the other one :)
When we were rehearsing the song, we decided to walk around the village! 8 nuns in our complete garb, headdress and all. People were looking out the window too, lol
This is the whole group. I am in the back, second from right.
Close-up of me:)

Posted - Apr 23 2009 : 02:07:12 AM okay, i did my research and this time read the post that i had missed. i love this story. my mom was raised in a convent by ursuline nuns in galveston and i was taught by dominicans, years later. i think i got the better deal, cause i didnt have to live with them, and well, ursulines are like the female jesuits. any way i love the pics and loved finding out the rest of the story. it made me laugh all over again.

Posted - Feb 02 2009 : 07:17:02 AM Good story, Marian. Thanks for explaining to us lost ones. But really, the lady 2nd from the left reminds me of the head nun at a catholic school I went to in Savannah when I was 12. She could pass for a real nun. I guess it's her expression.

Posted - Feb 01 2009 : 11:21:50 PM Gals who are lost: NO I have never been a nun, not my calling, never has been never will be. But my friends and neighbour always host a big family/friends BBQ in their backard with about 60 peeps attending. They do songs, little cabaret things etc. And this year they decided to do the song from Sister Act: "will follow Him" and an Elvis one in the backgrounbd of their brothers. This particular day I was "just "a substitute for one of the sis in laws, but we had SO myuch fub they all decided I was going to be part of the club on THE day too, They decided to include me in their sister act. They are all sisters/sisters in law and I have been bombarded as a sister too. SO it was just a performance, lol. But a fun one and we DID have a lot of success.
About the nails: I was just back from my month vacation in Thailand, visiting my brother and his partner, they live there. I saw the nails being done in a shop and they called my name, lol SO decided to have them done too. They turned out to be too long for comfort esp. in the beginning but they "grew" on me. After about a month I decided to take them off, my own nails started to grow and it was so darn difficult to zip oup my pants or close a blouse, lol. SO off they went, boohoo. I loved them too, they were white with little pink flowers :)
SO that is my nun story, in short.

Posted - Feb 01 2009 : 7:09:29 PM I remember a long time ago seeing the movie Cabaret, where Liza MInelli says she is making her fingernails look not divinely decadent, but reverent. I thought of you when I saw your fingernails and your habit!

Posted - Feb 01 2009 : 3:26:06 PM Ok I am lost. I guess I need the story. I was going to say I didn't know you were a nun, but I guess you really aren't a nun. So what's really going on here? Is the story someplace else and I missed it?
You do look so cute and I did notice the nails first thing. I also did not think nuns looked so flashy these days but maybe over in the Netherlands they do?

Posted - Feb 01 2009 : 11:53:13 AM LOL!! Well I am no longer a nun so she'd better find someplace else. I left my habit behind, and the headdress too and just am back to plain Marian, the Princess of Pink. Don't think Mother Superior would be TOO impressed with me, lol
