Has anyone seen a cute saying for a sign to take off your shoes when you come in?

Just thought of this after reading Junebugs response:
"Please be sweet and uncover your feet"
I like it!

Posted - Jan 07 2006 : 4:38:11 PM I love all of these. Catherine, I like your idea. It would be fun to make a flower pot with signs on sticks.
Thanks for all the ideas!

Posted - Jan 06 2006 : 10:59:07 AM You can sure tell we take off our shoes if you come in the kitchen door (the door we all use and so do close friends and family) but at the front door ..no shoes so we do get people inside with shoes too...but thats okay. We have wood floor in the living room and no fancy or white carpets..it works out. But..I have to tell ya...if the kids or husband try it they get in trouble. I love the "shoes live here" idea. May have to do that!

Posted - Jan 06 2006 : 04:07:15 AM Wow, Tania, you're getting some good ideas. You could make little signs of all the suggestions and make sure the guest really gets the idea! ha ha ha

Posted - Jan 05 2006 : 6:04:18 PM The first thing I do when I go to someone's house is check to see if there are shoes sitting by the door. Then I know they are probable a no shoes house. We take ours off at the door but I don't ask my guests to. Most do and if they don't that's ok too -- unless they have really dirty shoes!
How about "Barefoot Friends Are Best"?

Posted - Jan 05 2006 : 5:54:30 PM I saw a sign once that read "shoes live here", which I thought was great. There are so many people who practice this that the moment they see the shoes stacked or lined up they'll know too to take theirs off!! Enjoy, Julia Hayes

Posted - Jan 05 2006 : 11:44:48 AM I have a little tile that says: "Hawaiian style: please remove your shoes........Mahalo". Bought in Hawaii obviously...seems to work.
Have seen another one, homemade, with a stamp of her babies bare feet soles on it and below it says : No shoes please: carpet crawlers live here" or something like that! It was really cute. |

Posted - Jan 05 2006 : 11:20:40 AM I have a friend who LOVES Wizard of Oz but this would be cute for anyone...
On the sign have a pair of ruby slippers and the saying We aren't in Kansas anymore.....please remove your shoes.
There really are only two that I've ever seen though...Stocking feet only and please remove your shoes.
I hope someone else has some other ideas. We always remove our shoes but my city friends don't always realize how icky their shoes are when they come out and there's always that awkward moment when they come in when they're trying to determine if we're a shoe free home.

Posted - Jan 05 2006 : 11:02:43 AM How about just having a wooden shoe rack half full of slippers (or flip flops) and half empty for shoes- this way it is obvious what should take place and FUN! Maybe you can just embroider a little piece of muslin with- Take off your shoes and stay awhile! I am interested in what other thing people will come up with. Rebekka
