Have you all heard about the mother in California that just gave birth to eight babies? Well, I just heard that she already has six other children, all under the age of 7! Now she has 14 children all under 7! It sounds like she went through fertility treatments...why would someone who has six children need/want the treatments and why would a doctor agree with it? I'm just wondering if she wanted to become famous or something because it doesn't make sense.

I am assuming she did IVF, it is possible, although (pretty unlikely)they only put back a few maybe 4 and they all split.Either way she knew what she was doing, they knew they were pregnant with that many and didnt do a reduction. You never know, IVF is tricky, I have done it 3 times, the first time we put 3 embryos and got pregnant with Triplets, we lost one at about 9weeks and had healthy twins, the 2nd time, we put back 2 and miscarried that pregnancy at 6 weeks, the 3rd time we put back 3 and got pregnant with twins, but lost one and had a healthy boy. These pregnancies were mine, meaning I carried them, but carried for infertile couples. I can tell you that infertility can make people do crazy things, its sad really.
I wish their family all the best, and I hope those little blessing get healthy and go home soon.

The babies were born 9 weeks early and as of this morning all but the littlest was breathing on their own.

CNN said that the family was told that all the embryos took on implant (it is common for most to not take). When this happens the doctors offer to selectively abort some of the embryos to create a healthier pregnancy for mom and baby(ies). The parents chose to keep all seven (the 8th was a surprise on delivery). That was pretty much all the information that had been broadcast so far as the family has asked to remain anonymous for now so the parents can adjust to this new reality for them.

I come from a large family and hope to have a large family...but I can't wrap my brain around taking fertility treatments while having been blessed so many times already!! I shouldn't judge but it seems like somebody who has already had six children obviously has no problems with fertility!!!

Wow that is alot of babies!! I wonder though if that is good for the babies? I haven't heard are they all healthy. Sometimes when that many are born it causes alot of problems. I would be so worried wondering if they were all ok. I love large families and if you have the support of friends and family I say go for it. What a supprise to the dad.. come home to 8 more babies!! What a great gift.

I can not understand this either.. I have nothing against Lagre families.. My first concern is how can she cope with 8 new plus 6 other children.. emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and not least Economically. Thats a lot of moiuths to feed & little bodies to clothe.. I am sure they won't suffer in the love dept, or feel theywere un wanted ..but Who am I to question the reason for fertility drugs.. or results there of.. One can only hope & pray for the best.. This lady is going to need some DOWN time...

Well, now they'll have to be on TLC on the show about a dozen kids or more. They would certainly qualify now! I heard they did not know there were 8 til the actual c-section. Then they found #8. But still, WOW! I cannot even imagine what my belly would look like after having 8 babies in there. Oh my, plastic surgery please!!!

I hope they do show pictures of the babies soon. I'd love to see them.

I heard on the radio (christian station) that she lives with her mom and dad. I don't think she has one. I wonder what her parents are thinking now?

I agree about large families and think each child is a blessing but I don't see the rush if you have to "TRY" to get pregnant with fertility treatments to do it again so soon when you have so many little ones in the house. If the news reports are correct she has two year old twins. That means that when her twins were just a year old she went through treatments once again. That doesn't make sense. And so far I haven't heard any mention of a husband, just that her and her children have been living with her parents.

Sounds about right, but what "FUN" her household must be. :) Every child is a blessing, but I'd be wondering how much more blessed I could handle with 14 kiddos!:)

Wow - I was just saying the same thing to my friend. Why fertility treatments if you already have 6 children?!? I hope know one takes this the wrong way. I have 5 children and would have had more if money and sanity permitted . My husband comes from a family of 12 so absolutly NO judgement on large families. I am just trying to understand fertility treatments if you have 6 children under the age of 7..... It will be interesting to watch this story develop
