Well my excuse is My Aunt sent me a little money and said I was to only buy fun things. So frugal went out the window for a bit. But I'm OK now. I posted pictures and made my excuses on my site.

Debbie,I didn't know that about pearls. That's a good thing to know.

Nancy Jo, you have the coolest blog. I love seeing all the neat stuff you get.

Nancy...I think, but I'm not sure that one of the ways you can tell a real pearl necklace is if there is a knot tied between each bead. This was done so if the necklace broke all the pearls wouldn't get lost. My son says a real pearl will dissolve in a glass of Pepsi..but then you're out the pearl.

Nancy,

You may have "fallen" off the fugal wagon, but you did so graciously. You were spending gift money and you purchased "good stuff" Thanks for the pictures. I especialy liked the buttons.

MB,
Pay attention. My .99 cent tins were full of buttons. Of couse thats only because I have a girl there that saves them for me. Probably be thousands of dollars anyplace else. I know what you mean. I see things all the time I want to send to someone and the postage just stops that idea real fast. So trying to find really light weight things to mail. Well who wants a feather anyway? SOOOO I just keep looking.

The thrift I go to has put all tins, large or small, at .69cents. I have some cute ones I don't know what to do with. I have lots of ideas I just don't always do. I wish postage hadn't gone up so much. MB

Kristin,
Its always different. Usually at garage sales I seem to pay more. I do better at the thrift. This week, those two tins I got that are on my site were.99 cents each. Isn't that silly? You just have to buy them at that price.

Aren't aunts just great? And uncles, too. You did good. And I bet you do have a little left over to go the thrift store. You sure are good at finding the bargains. Can you tell us how much a tin of buttons cost there? I'd love to know. I have foung old sewing baskets at antique stores full of old sewing items. And bags of old wooden thread spools, too. I have a corner shelf with 7 little shelves that came with the house. Found it in the attic. It's made with wooden spools. It's probably not too old, but someone made it. I finally got it back down in the dining room where it prabably was at one time.

Very cool, Nancy. I don't think I would count that as falling off the frugal wagon, though. It wasn't money out of your pocket AND you were under orders!
