OK, I posted this on Gatered Up, too, because I'm just not sure where to post it, Hope I don't get in trouble.lol..I want soooo badly to go to the 4th of July Farm Fair this year, but don't want to make the drive alone.....it's a very long drive from here!!! So, if anyone in TX, LA, AR, or OK, would like to make plans to go along, please lets try to get it going!! I feel like it would be a real blast!!! Since it's several months away, I have more than enough time to do my saving and planning.....and as far as going with someone ya don't really know.....well, I feel that we are all "SISTERS"...and we'd have several months to get to know each other! I am trying to get a FarmGirl Chapter started in this area, but just don't know what kind of interest or response I will get. It seems that in the past, there have been several chapters started in East Texas, but unfortunatley they are no longer active....Sooooo......Just thought a FarmGirl Road Trip would be fun!!! Please let me know if you are interested!!!! Thanks Bunches!!! Kelley

Well gosh darn.. I have not made accomodations arrangements yet but I will be comeing with at least 4 other (maybe future MJ Farmgirls) They live in Washington, and I'm in Oregon, so we are meeting in Yakima..and coming from there. I am excited to meet these ladies as I only know a one for sure, besides my 2 daughters If I cna convince them to tag along. I hav ebeen plugging Mj for months.. Hope they join the sisterhood.. Figured a good way for them to really get a taste of farmgirl recognition would be to invite them..We are all ready for a road trip..We may stay at a campground where thereare cabins. nothings cast in stone yet..

This is Kate in KS. I might also be interested in a carpool/caravan to MJF for the 4th. I'm all for camping. Anyone up for bringing a little one with them? I have a toddler (15 months now) and I would love to have her at the Farm. I could also be talked into going without the little one....

hey rene' I haven't checked out airfare yet, but I will today!!! Knowing that someone would be there to get me and shuttle me is a Great thing to know!! As far as "advertising" for the farmgirl chapter, I'm pulling out ALL the stops!!!! My list of locations to post flyers is up to 40 plus!!!! And I'm still going! I have called and gotten permission on posting a flyer at all of these places, but haven't finished my flyer....I want it to stand out, catch lots of attention, and be FarmGirl Fabulous!!!! I am even trying to get a bed and breakfast in the town closest to me to let me have the first gathering (meeting) there....it has a huge, beautiful yard surrounded by picket fence....I think there may be more gals show up if it's in a public place the first time as apossed to going to a complete strangers home!!! Anyhow, i will definately check out airfare, I can't belive I hadn't even thought of that yet....lol....Thank you so much for your help!!! As I read your posts and check out your blog, you are becoming a favorite of mine!!!! Thanks Bunches!!!! kelley

Hey Kelly,
There is still time as a lot can happen in a few months. Do you have a local fresh market grocery store? Often times they will have a bulletin board where you could post a "farmgirl round up" maybe just meet at a local coffee shop to see if there is interrest, also the local library is a GREAT resource. Often times they will feature a book or books about gardening, crafting etc and allow girls to use thier space for a round up. You just never know who is out there. (show them MaryJanes books and often they will purchase them, to have in the library) I live in a twon of 6000 and we have 122 women in our local chapter... trust me they are out there, and more fun than anyone should be allowed.

Another great resource is your local extention offices... they know who is calling in to ask for help on backyard chickens and growing heirlooms.. let them know that you want to start a chapter and ask them to pass on the word.

Have you tried checking airfare, into Spokane WA? we would make sure that you were scooped up at the airport and all :)

Keep bumping this post up so that it is active, you just never know how is out there lurking :)

hey dawn, that's my hopes! If I don' get a little trailer between now and then, I would have to see about borrowing one....Heck, I'm soooo much a farmgirl, that I have a wall tent!! Just like MJ!, but I don't know how other farmgirls would feel about wall tent camping on the road....lol....who knows, maybe there are plenty more out the like me somewhere in this area....I guess I'll just wait and see!! kelley

I'm not in Texas, but I think you are on the right track. Especially if you all can pool together on gas/food expenses. It'd be great if you all could find a small RV to rent/borrow and drive. That way you'd have a place to sleep and prep food!
